01 September 2014

Busy weekend. Went into work Saturday as the morning shift then the closer got in and she was sick with a sore throught/cough thing going around (that my oldest has too). She ended up going home and I closed for her. Then I went in to open Sunday feeling fine (I mean it was early so I was dragging but didn't feel sick) 8:20am rolls around and I'm throwing up and just plain miserable. Not fun, took medicine and made it through my shuft. Luckily the weekend closer came in and was feeling much better (she said she took niquil and just slept through til work time, which was probably the best thing she coulddo to get feeling better). I, unfortunately have not been able to follow her excellent example yet.

The boys were at my parents while my husband and I were working. Right after I got there and my sister showed up with her kids so I stayed to let them play. My husband got off work late and I knew the kids (who woke up at 4:45am) would probably go to sleep on the way home so I waited to leave til after 7pm so they didn't nap then wake up ready to play the night away. Then my brother asked me to stop by on our way home to see his new house he moved into last week.

By the time we got home it was 8:30 and only one boy was asleep. The other was certain he was not tired. I've spent the last few hours trying to go to sleep myself but I was hungry, so finalky ate and now my tummy is upset again- just can't win with that combination. So I thought I'd journal a bit befor trying to lie down again.

Glad tomorrow is labor day. We start homeschool the day after, without that day break to get this out of my system the first day of school might have been miserable. I'm sure this is just gonna be a short stomache bug and I'll be feeling better by Tuesday.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Today was a looonnngggg day! I had a lot of trouble breathing last night so didn't get much sleep then had to be up early this morning. I think it from this burst of heat, plus corn harvesting going on (allergic to corn). My lungs have been trying to lock down tight. I didn't eat much today but think I got plenty of calories. I iced the pumpkin bars from yesterday and baked up 18 mini pumpkin bread loafs with the extra pumpkin pie mix (I made a bit too much, lol). I had my nephew this morning as well as my boys and between three pumpkin loving little boys and my husband stopping in for lunch 8 of those mini loafs disappeared ;-) I'm sure I picked up plenty of calories from taste testing batter and icing =p Just goingbto freeze up the remaining loaves for special breakfast treats here and there (I generally have a variety of premade gluten free treats like cupcakes and cookie bars in the freezer to take with us so the boys don't miss out on yumminess at birthday parties and other get togethers).

My sister had an appt to check on her bundle of joy to come so I had her son for the morning. The boys had a ton of fun together. My sister and brother's wife are both right around 3 months pregnant (only a week apart from each other's due dates). We found out my brother is expecting a little boy. His wife had ovarian cancer and because of the chemo possibly affecting genetic material they did genetic testing and they have a perfectly normal xy baby =) Very glad to hear! We won't know boy or girl on my sister for a bit still.

I've been doing a lot of treatments plus had to bump up my steriods back to the max dose again and think all the sweet taste testing combined with increased steroids started some thrush. Woke up with my tongue hurting this morning and that tell tale coated feeling that seems to seep right back no matter how well you brush. I was so tired that it didn't really compute as thrush til this afternoon... after more sweet baking and tastectesting. Been drinking diet soda (the acid in it can sometimes get rid of thrush if you catch it early enough, has to be sugar free though for obvious reasons). Not sure if that's gonna work this time or if I need to give my Doctor a call tomorrow morning. We'll see.

Hope everyone else had a great hump day!!!

Slacked off on food recording, but not going to worry too much about it.

Did some early holiday baking. Made 4 pumpkin pies and 8 gluten free pumpkin cookie bars (so our boys each have one pumpkin flavored treat per pie). They freeze up nicely. Then just take a thawed pie, 2 bars and a thing of whip cream to whatever get together comes up. Since I'm working weekends and teaching homeschool the weekdays this year, plus all the normal cleaning, appointments and etc I figured I would need a pie or few ready to go in reserve this holiday season. I also already made the chocolate lollipops and gingerbread house molds (just needs assembled) a couple weeks ago. Those freeze up easy also (just chocolate bars basically).

I'm nearly done with Christmas shopping and finished the Christmas knitting yesterday for us and finished the hat sets for our annual church drive last week. Got only a few things left to get for our family- I keep track of our gifts on pinterest
Christmas Gifts 2014 Pin Board) so that my husband and I can both access the lists. However, we both come from large Catholic families and are blessed to have some very good friends so we have quite a few people on our list. Got 22 gifts bought, ready to wrap and give. 7 that are partially done and just need something perishable that we'll add a bit closer to time, for obvious reasons. 2 people I still haven't a clue what to get =p and another 2 kids on my husband's side we will draw at Thanksgiving. We have a board for that on pinterest too but it's private for obvious reasons ;-) I love giving gifts and love that people actually look forward to what we get them. I aim for $10 average person cost but put a lot of thought into what we get people and watch sales/clearance very carefully. So the worth of our gifts is normally much higher. This was one of my favorite sets we put together last year. It was for my husband's mom. She loves Willow Tree and always gifting it to others but never gets herself any. I found the grandmother and grandfather set for $15 together so made a set out of them with the picture and frame-

So anyways, it's not even September but I've got holidays on the brain =p Schooling starts 2nd of Sept so I want to get as much taken care of by then as possible- after that life is going to be very action packed for a bit!

Anyways, sorry not much on topic in this journal entry- mostly holiday prep related stuff =p

Not much reference for why up a pound. My previous weigh in may have been abnormally low from dehydration or something else and I was really at 145 last week too. I had tom this last week and am on the last day or so now so there might be some fluid retention there that's to blame, instead. Won't know til next weeks weigh in. From tracking I expected to be around maintenance so I'll just have to see what the scale says next week ;-)

Been tracking but not changing my eating and I seem to be right around maintenance. Can't really complain about that. I'd really like to get inside the healthy weight range befor the holidays. For my height that is 10lbs down from here. In 4lbs I will nolonger be in the 'overweight' range but in the 6lb gray area between where overweight ends and befor healthy weight starts. Slightly Overweight I guess =p.

Working on finishing up the hat sets for us for Christmas. The hat sets are what the boys help wrap and give as their presents when we exchange them on Christmas Eve. I've just got one more mitt/glove to finish for my husbands set and then those are all done.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

edit- added pictures (wrote journal on app so couldn't insert pics) also forgot that my current FS Profile Pic is of me trying on my finished hat set =) The spider is for my youngest, he got a spiderman blue and red hat last year so this year I did a spawn inspired one (he loves spiderman). Batman is for my oldest and the brown hat (and coming mitts) match the collar of my husband's Carhartt coat he got for Christmas last year.
