I am a 35 year old guy from West Chester, PA. I was born and raised in South Philadelphia, with the Cheesesteaks and Cannolis. I moved to Cherry Hill, NJ where I went to school. Graduated from High School and went to Shippensburg University to be the place kicker for the football team. That is when all the problems with my weight started.

I played for a few months before my quad was hurt during a foorball game. From then on out I gained almost 200 lbs through my college career. Taking the weight off has been extremely hard for me. I have tried multiple diets and honestly none of them have been as effective as looking at what I am eating, keeping a journal and working out 4 days a week.

Love the outdoors, riding, camping, hiking, golf, sports (football, baseball, hockey, rugby, and Nascar). Love Italian, Chinese and Southern Cooking. I like cooking everything myself and love coming up with new recipes.

Joining a Gym
Well, I have decided to join a gym once again. This time I am not looking for quanity, I am looking for quality. The last few gyms that I belonged to, had many machines, but the quality of the machines were horrible, and they borke down alot. The classes were very expensive and the place was very condensed.

I just found out they are opening a LA Fitness about 5 miles from my apartment and decided to look into it. They have the basketball courts, the lap pool, the sauna, whirlpool, very large, and it has free weights (Big Plus for me). For 40 dollars a month with no iniation fee it is worth it. I am looking forward to getting back in the gym, and can drive striaght from work instead of going home and changing then heading back out.

Question is what is your over all experience with LA Fitness, if you belonged to it or any other gym, what is the major points you look at before joining? What different enviromental factors (people around you, trainers around you, TV's) help or hinder you? Was the money worth it? Just interested in finding out what people though about the gym aspect and how it differs from the home gym aspect. Very Happy

Looking for a few good people
I have been working pretty hard on my diet, but I am missing one thing....people to encourage and back me up. I am looking for a few good people to talk with, share information, and encourage. I read information on certain diets, suppliments and food all the time and would like to talk with people who like doingt he same.

Thanks and look forward to hearing from some of you.Very Happy
