I am hoping that I do better with the CRAVINGS today. So far, so good. The synthroid medication for thyroid speeds up your metabolism. That is a GOOD thing. BUT, it also speeds up your appetite! Boy, does it! Yesterday, I just couldn't stop munching. I tried to keep to "legal" snacks. But, I am certain the quantity was a real problem. I entered all of the items on the food journal, so at least I was aware. I quit smoking four years ago, and that was really, really hard for me to do. I smoked for 41 years, and I still miss it. But, I have decided that I am very capable of losing this excess weight if I could do the quit smoking thing. I do believe, however, that the weight thing is harder. Because you still have to eat, ya know? The cigs -- once you dump them, it's just a matter of staying totally away. With food, you can't stay away. Anyway, I found a website four years ago that was a great help in breaking the smoking habit, and I have great confidence that FS will help in this endeavor.

Just a journal entry -- not associated with a weigh-in, which is my usual MO. Spent lots of time this morning with SB info on-line. Found that I should not feel guilty about chili! Great! My husband is thrilled. I will just need to watch my portion size so that the beans are only 1/2 cup. I guess I have cleared up my confusion regarding amounts of olive oil or canola oil which may be used. I have come to the conclusion that I may use the amounts of these fats that are necessary to prepare my (otherwise allowable) foods. Mayo is limited, and nuts are limited, etc., but I do not find a limitation on the oils anywhere in my book or on-line. Am I missing something? Anybody out there on SB -- please straighten me out if I am messing up.

I am also coming to understand that it is VERY difficult (though not impossible) to lose weight while taking synthroid thyroid medication. This is a relatively new medication for me (couple of months). Again, anyone with knowledge gained from experience -- I would be grateful!

Guess that's about it. I intend to enjoy every minute of this winter Sunday with chili simmering in my electric skillet. Life is good.
