I enjoy outdoor activities such as bicycling and hiking. My favorite form of fitness is Pilates. I am a musician, audio engineer and teacher. I prefer a whole food healthey diet as opposed to the fad diets other people use. Living a healthy lifestyle is easier than destroying yourself with other marketed plans.

Abs
I'm not sure how long ago "younger" was for you. An abdominal injury can take two to six weeks to repair if you are taking in enough protein daily to help repair it (0.4-0.5 grams per pound of body weight is the recommended amount and 1 gram per pound of body weight if you are trying to build alot of muscle). Don't do any abdominal exercises until it heals first. If it doesn't heal within that amount of time then you will possibly require surgery to reattach the severed muscle. You will know if it's unattached by a lump slightly above or below the navel depending upon which end it tore from. If there is no lump that wasn't there before the injury and it still hurts after the sixth week then you will still need to see a Doctor to find out what happened. You could have done something as simple as tearing a ligament in the abdominal wall or other muscle/ligament near the area (when you injure one part of the body other parts will try to make up the difference by exerting extra effort and sometimes overexerting and becoming injured also). The other problem might be an injury to an internal organ that is not healing properly and will require medical attention to get corrected. The abdominals will contract and occationally press against the internal organs causing discomfort, pain or injury. Always remember that pain is the way your body tells you something is not right and to stop doing the activity that is causing the pain until it heals. If you are rehabing your abdominals and are looking for something outside the box of what you were told to do you must beware of exercises that could cause another injury and make sure you get the approval of your physician first. I've seen alot of people ignore their Doctors recommendations and commit further injury that sometimes was worse than the original one. If none of the above is the issue then I suggest to visit http://www.exrx.net to get some additional ideas. If you are trying to rehab on your own, as most people will do instead of seeking a physicians advise, then I suggest http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/cybertherapist/injurylist.htm for some common injury diagnoses and minor rehab. I hope some of this information will help you in your quest for killer abs.
