10 February 2011

Yesterday, I was looking over all of my food entries and realized I'm not eating enough veggies so I thought I would rectify that problem with a nice little stir fry for dinner. I got everything I needed plus some Shiritaki noodles to use as a base and it was all tasty enough, but I discovered a problem with it this morning. I seem to be sensitive to soy I think. The noodles are tofu based and I used quite a bit of low sodium soy sauce and some of hoisin sauce I had sitting around. So, I figure it's either the excessive soy or excessive salt or a combo of the two. I had a splitting headache this morning and my fingers were all puffy. I still have a headache but it's going away slowly. From now on I think I'll stay away from the soy. Also, I went over my carbs for the day with all the vegetables, but was still way under for calories so I had a little cheese which I've been trying to cut back on and a couple of beef sticks I had bought for my husband. That got my calories up but I'm sure the beef sticks probably compounded the situation with the amount of sodium in them. They didn't have nitrates or anything in them though so I guess that's good. Oh and a dill pickle spear-more salt. Geez did I not stop eating yesterday? How is it possible I don't eat enough calories?

Things I'm grateful for today:
My husband got to go into work late today, but also has to work late (boo), so he made breakfast for me today and did a really good job of measuring.
I got to go for a bicycle ride with my husband and we stopped so he could get his hair cut.
He's the most handsome husband in the world, especially when he puts on his nice uniform for work instead of the grubby clothes he usually works in in the engine room or anywhere else on the boat.
Those boats are beautiful, but they take a lot of dirty work to get them/keep them that way.

What I'm not grateful for today:
Soy
Sodium

Another thing I'm grateful for:
Netflix on my TV so I can nurse my headache from bed and watch movies.

And another thing I'm grateful for:
Having an all around good life.

GOOD NEWS MEH NEWS redux

It's Weigh In Wednesday and I have a huge sense of deja vu and with good reason. My scale is stuck. I know I'M not. It's got to be the scale's fault. There was only a .2 loss and that was the first series of 3 weigh ins this morning. I decided to *ahem* weigh again after the "morning constitutional" and then re-weigh and the scale went right back to where it's been since January 29. How is that even possible? Stuff that has mass came out of my body! Of course I'm recording the original weight.
I'm becoming such an advocate for this way of eating that I don't want to fail it. I know it works. I've seen the evidence with my own eyes. I guess I've just got to give it a little more time. I may do another unofficial weigh on Saturday when my husband weighs in. He is losing and we're eating pretty much exactly the same things although he eats larger portions and has quite a bit more Splenda than I do so I know it must be me. Have I wrecked my metabolism over the years with the yo-yo-ing? Maybe. Who's to say. I'm just going to stick with it and go about my life.
I must keep reminding myself how much better I feel and how much more energetic I am.
So, that was all the Meh news. Now for the good:

MY MEASUREMENTS:

Measurements for Feb 2 vs. Feb 9

Chest--41" -- 40.5"

Waist--36.5" -- 35"

Hips (ugh)--45.5" -- 44"

Thigh--27" -- 27"

Upper Arm (the guns)--13" -- 12.5"

A total of 5 inches lost in one week. I think that's good, but I've been so focused on the number on the scale that I have no idea what inches lost should be. Guess I better start reading up on that.

Today what I'm NOT grateful for:
My scale for making me feel like a fraud and a failure

Today what I AM grateful for:
My measuring tape for making me feel like I'm not doing this for nothing.
