Just a sack of flour away from my initial goal (Yes, I have every intention of setting a 2nd one...and 3rd...and 4th if need be). Should hit it by Easter, but then again I was trending to 240 by then a mere two weeks ago. Such is life. Just keeping the needle heading left...

I'm in much better spirits than I was last week. I got myself an ankle wrap, had one round of PT (#2 is this afternoon), and have had two shockwave treatments. I'm preparing to restart martial arts next week as well, but I have to take it easy with a couple stances. My son just achieved a new rank and I was supposed to join him at the end of the month, but my test will undoubtedly get pushed to at least the end of May.

I've also added another strategy to my plan. I'm in the midst of a sober 31. Not indulging in the empty weekend calories for the next 4 weeks will not only help my overall health, but should keep keep scale tipped downward.

Have a nice weekend, All!!!

So I'm down a couple/a few lbs., but I'm also down in mood at the moment. I had an MRI on my ankle when I got back from Florida early last week. I injured it a while ago, but it had gotten to the point lately where it could no longer be ignored for any 24 hour period. Since I was going in for a checkup anyway (Back in February, when I re-kickstarted my health quest), I had my doctor refer me to a podiatrist. So to keep a long story from getting any longer, I have a small tear in my Achilles as well as peroneal tendonitis.

I am dreading surgery. So before that is a concern, I was prescribed shockwave therapy (to promote my body to self heal) and physical therapy, but no anti-inflammatories or ice. The tech administering the shockwave therapy also doesn't want me walking as much I have been or training in martial arts, which I had picked up last year. On the other hand, it's probably martial arts (particularly a few stances that have me otherwise hyper-flexing my foot) that got me to this point.

Normally I would only take the recommendation under advisement and do whatever activity does not hurt, but my insurance is not covering the shockwave treatments. Since I am paying for it out of pocket, I really want to give it the best chance to work.

Argh!! Not happy on multiple fronts, but at the end of the day, I have no one to blame but myself.

1st, as I said last week, four friends and I went to Fort Myers, FL for the weekend primarily to take in some Spring Training baseball. I was really happy with last weeks entry, got plenty of exercise in FLA, and tracked pretty close everything I ate. What I drank was a different story.

I like beer well enough, but not so much that I can drink it constantly. I am well aware of the carbs and cals which leads to water retention as well, but I didn't think having a few beers would derail me too much. It did. We went to more than a few brew houses in Florida. One of my buddies is way into craft beer to the point where he will have 9 of his own on tap for a fantasy baseball draft tomorrow. Luckily, I will probably be drafting on-line and not in person.

Anyhow, back on my horse and hopefully I will have better news next week. I may weigh myself more often this week, just as a reminder.

Decided to document my weigh in a day early this week. I'm headed to Fort Myers with four of my buddies to catch some spring training Red Sox baseball, and probably the Twins as well. I'll be trying to stick to my plan as much as I possible (Lower carbs/sugar, CICO, and - most importantly - tracking), but this is a Guys Trip and I'm sure we will be tipping a few back. Beer is not my drink of choice, so that should limit the cals. and carbs. Just need to watch everything else.

Again, if I play games with my antiquated analog scale, I can get as low as 255, but given my calorie deficit over the past 6 days, 4 lbs is right on track. Some may say that I need a new and accurate scale and I don't necessarily disagree. On the other hand, the only way I can get the needle to say at or above what I was even three weeks ago is by holding my son as I weigh myself. So I've got that going for me...Which is nice.
