After losing all confidence in my treacherous scale at home, I walked at a brisk pace this morning all the way to a pharmacy that swore on their love for overpriced Disprins, that their scale is accurate.

Bingo! 84 kgs! Which, worryingly, is the same as my scale at home says every second time I get onto the thing. (The other time it says either 83 or 85, depending on its mood.)

But what made my day is that I got my first proper exercise since 01 December last year, and that I apparently only gained 1 kg instead of the three I thought sneaked onto me.

I'll be rewarding myself with a small backpack soon, to go for full-day walking trips through bush and veld. Got to go inspect them puff adders and other beauties of nature. Thanks to Google Maps I can plan my routes to include a river for a quick swim, while it's still summer and before climate change toast all rivers dry. So if you read in the newspapers about a guy swimming with snakes and hippos and crocodiles, that'll be me.

1282 kcal for the day! 😁 That's better! After be above 2000 the past 2 weeks, I got a grip on things again. Now to stay below 1500 per day till 05 January. And exercise daily again. Seems like I won't be having a Christmas party or end of year party. Health is more important than having an hour or three of stuffing poisonous food. The more health conscious I become, the more revolted I become by how unhealthy so many foods are. In my grandparents' time, the only food available (I guess) was 99% fresh vegetables and meat, and 1% processed junk. Today it's the other way around. Even bananas are being wrapped up in plastic nowadays, like its own packaging ain't good enough.

A new fruit and vegetable shop opened up nearby, they immediately gained themselves a loyal customer. I'm planning to walk the 3 km's there every day instead of driving, to buy a fruit and vegetable or three, as goal to get me walking. Right now it's a packet of cigarettes every other day to a café 5 km's away, going to swop it out. For some reason I cannot just walk for the sake of walking, I need a goal.
