I'm having a hard time today. This heat is throwing me for a loop, and I don't want to move, much less walk 5 miles. I know I need to... I was hoping it wouldn't be so hot today so that I could go riding, but no luck.
I miss my horsey time.

I'm not feeling well today. I'm kind of grossed out by my lunch, actually. I roasted chicken yesterday, so I was expecting to be able to take a breast of chicken to lunch today. No dice. My husband (wonderful and sweet and kind and...) packed my lunch as I was hurrying to get ready. I open it to find a chicken sandwich, drowning in mayo and covered in cheese. I got halfway through it, and am considering purging, not for my waistline, but because it just made me ill.
Today is not a good day.

Whoever says horseback riding isn't a sport hasn't ridden 'til it hurts. Last night, I dropped my stirrups for nearly a half an hour to try and get my horse to respond to leg pressure. The horse I'm currently training is named Charley. I call her Charley-horse, because that's exactly what she gives me.
I woke up several times, having to stretch, and each time, thought of the appropriateness of my equine friend's nickname. I also thought of how, in a few months without stirrups, I won't be hurting so much. I won't be so fat that an hour-long ride takes so much out of me.
I want to be able to walk into a tack shop and not have to look so hard for riding clothes. I want to be able to mount and dismount with ease, instead of worrying that the bands on my instructor's peacock stirrups will give way if my foot is the tiniest bit to the inside. I don't want to have to worry about purchasing a draft cross when it's time for me to buy a horse. I'm tired of people looking at me askance when they find out that I ride and train horses. It's always like "You? Really? But aren't you much too fat?" Yes, compared to you, Miss-CarrotStick-Anky-von-Grusven-wannabe with your expensive horse and perfectly tailored outfit, I suppose I am.
But I'm already good at what I do. Being thin will only mean that Miss CarrotStick ought to watch out in the show ring, 'cause my horse farts during victory gallops. :)
