Update for 2023: Discovered Caroline Girvan's workouts through social media chatter and I absolutely love everything about her/them. Discovered the benefits of tracking and dialing in macros with emphasis on high protein (currently using 1.1g/lb bodywieght). Keeping carbs on the lower side and fat in the vicinity of 45g/day. I feel good with these ratios. Calculators put me at 1670 calories/day but, intuitively, I think I need to go lower. Trying for 1500 or less, as long as protein goals are met.

At 57, I'm amazed at what I can do in strength training, especially my legs. Always had weak legs, but they are responding quickly and are strong. Even HIIT workouts surprise me, since I've hated cardio since taking my first breath out of the womb. Those are limited to 1x week - everything else is strength and walking. Feel like I'm in a really good place in life right now.

In my 50s and succumbing to the inevitable signs and symptoms of menopause, as well as the daily stresses of motherhood, step-motherhood, pastor-wifing, and people-pleasing....it's now time to move myself up the line in my list of priorities! Taking care of others should not come at the expense of taking care of oneself.

Goals:
-I want to feel - physically and emotionally - healthy and whole!
-I want to have control over food, not allow food to have control over me.
-To lose 25 lbs.
-Combat and prevent health issues.
-To LOVE a healthy lifestyle to the point I'm never tempted to go back to unhealthy habits.
-To live long and to the fullest!
-And, well...yes, damn it!...look smokin' hot naked!!

Electric multi cookers ie instant pot
Hey Jeri. I'm very new to pressure cooking/Instant Pot'ing (lol) but I can tell you that the IP cannot be used for canning. You can cook your veggies and sterilize your jars, but you cannot actually pressurize/seal the jars. And I haven't tried making yogurt yet. Trying to find just the right coconut milk recipe as I am completely dairy-free now. Very cool on the '70s yogurt maker! Smile

Electric multi cookers ie instant pot
I just purchased an Instant Pot this past week and I absolutely love it. But I don't use it for my current dietary needs, I use it to cook for the kids, and my husband who is on a keto WOE. I love how FAST it serves up a meal! I cooked a 4lb sirloin tip roast with carrots, onions and wine sauce in less than an hour...and it was as tender as if I had cooked it in a slow cooker all day. A little intimidating to use at first and a slight learning curve, but after you make one or two things in it, you get comfortable. There is a Facebook community with over 1M members with tons of recipes, encouragement and helpful tips for newbies. I say pull the trigger and get one! (I purchased the IP Duo Plus for its yogurt function.)
