I figured since I haven't been around for a while that I would just go ahead and restart my diet. I really do want to reach my weight goals by next year. Considering I'm 25 this year, I think that's a reasonable amount of time. And I've been wanting to get this done for pretty much ever... I saw my dietician today. And she recommended that keep a Cravings Journal, since I asked about what to do when that pesky voice popped up and encouraged me to snack.

So, I'm really going to track this. I'm determined, and I know my mind is ready to get this done. A friend of mine invited me to workout at her gym some time this month and I think I will go. Today I actually tracked my food intake exactly. So that was pretty neat. I'll be sure to keep it up and maybe even plan ahead since I really need to focus on upping my protein intake.

It's been forever since I wrote one of these. So I guess the good news is that I actually have things to update.

Emotional Health: Eh, normal I guess. Beaming optimism with the lightest sprinkling of worldly cynicism and ennui.

Mental Health: Greatly improved. It's all uphill from here! quarter life crisis survived successfully.

Spiritual Health: Also improving. Mada mada dane... Still got a ways to go, but the journey will be interesting to say the least. It might even be *gasp* an adventure. God's the only one who knows for sure in any case. I'll just keep walking and following his lead the best I can.

Physical Health: I'd dare to say I'm getting stronger! I've got arm muscles coming in from somewhere and butt muscles?! It's unheard of! Guess I've been lifting more heavy things. Most likely my own body weight... It's amazing how posture and balance work can completely change the way your muscles appears.

An example: I was trained wayyy back in primary school to walk on the front of my feet. It supposedly made you step lighter and run faster more readily, so as a slow(fat) kid I was all for it. I wanted to keep up with my peers. As a result I developed monstrous calf muscles, like those of a professional cyclist, although riding my bike was one of my least favorite activities. And they've always been that way, much to the jealousy of my siblings, hah. I think I'd trade my "bombshell" legs for their natural skinniness though.

Now, fast forward to age 25, and since I've decided to get my weight and appearance under control, I'm evaluating absolutely everything... even the way I walk. I've made a point to "ground" myself more before performing exercise and before walking anywhere: tighten the glutes, step with front of foot but finish on the heel and repeat, lift the knees and extend the calf... etc. And I can tell the difference. Now I know what "power" walking is. I can feel it too. And I've finally managed to activate my thigh muscles! Something I've never been able to figure out until now. Maybe it was simple for everyone else, but... I'm just weird like that. Can you believe I didn't know the butt was a functioning muscle until college? Yea.. that's me.

My legs have toned significantly, so that's pretty neat. Maybe I'll achieve that elusive thigh gap? Who knows...

I do believe I've lost an inch off my waist... this is only a guess as I've only just now measured it. 39.2... But my brain assures me it used to be 40+ and I'm inclined to believe that if only because I used to appear "straight up and down" as my mom would call it. Now there's some definition. I call it a "baby coke bottle" stage.

Now if only I'd see some inches off this spare tire... I am weigh less flabby looking though, which is nice. And since I eat better, I'm less bloaty too. Yay!

Oh! And as of 2/2/19, I'm checking out this alkaline water thing. I've got this new place opened up right down the street from my home. The only one of its kind on the east coast. So I bought a membership and now I can fill up for 1.75 a gallon whenever I want. It's been two days and so far... I've been drinking water like I've never drank before. I don't even "crave or want" anything else really. It used to be such a chore to do. My brain never said.. "Water would be nice." nor my taste buds. But this stuff is like... ambrosia or something. Subconsciously I reach for it.

And not to be gross, but I pee a lot less, but more efficiently if that makes sense. Excretion is as important as what goes in and it says a lot. With bottled or tap water I could always watch the transition from the sunshine yellow of "dehydration" to the palest yellow or "hydration". With this alkaline water, that transition took a lot less time and a lot less water than I'm used to. From say half a day to maybe a few hours. I'm not really looking for any "results" really. I'm just trying to drink enough water in a day at this point, hah. So as far as I'm concerned I think I might just like this water just for that. But I can say that my chronically dry skin already looks a lot happier. So I'm inclined to believe I am becoming way more hydrated from the inside out.

Whoo, that was a lot. Good thing I like writing.

Happy Monday everyone! I would talk about the Super Bowl, but... I fell asleep at the beginning of the second quarter. I enjoyed the singers at the beginning at least. They (Halle, Chloe, and Gladys) were lovely.

The only other notable thing that happened besides that is I found out eggless Chocolate Chip Cookies are still the bomb. So that's another plus one for old recipes over new ones!
