recovered from eating disorder and now the scales tipped too far
I had weight issues when I was young. I was quite fat when I was a little kid, tho I was always the tallest boy in my class. I wasn't freakish to look at, but I was constantly made fun of by the more fit kids. Then I discovered football and I found my calling. In playing football, I found something in which my size was an attribute instead of a hinderance. I played 'til I moved to Arkansas where they had no football. I was 6'3" 230 when I moved here, within a year I was up to 280. Without football, I was just the fat kid again. I stopped working out, I got depressed, and I ate my way to 405 lbs. Most of my family is overweight and most treat depression with copious amounts of high calorie fatty foods. I too wondered what the hell happened to me. I (unlike you) had found a way to be healthy and I worked out. Within a few months of moving to Arkansas, I completely gave up. I'm glad you've realized what's going on before it was too late! It is so easy to say, well i've come this far, screw it, its too late for me now! It is NEVER too late. I'm 40 years old and only recently have I got to the position that you are NOW. You've saved yourself 20 years of grief, believe me. You can lose the weight, and be healthy while doing it. Check out my diet plan (599dietman plan) and feel free to read my journal and join me on my journey. This site is the right way to go, sharing your story and getting input from others... its very uplifting. The secret to losing weight is, DO NOT DIET! DIETing in and of itself implies that its not the normal way to eat. You need to change the way you eat, know what you put in your body! You are beautiful no matter how big you are, now just get healthy and you've got it whipped~!

Will Power?
My big problem was snacking when i'm not paying attention (sitting at the computer, driving). I didn't even realize how much I was eating when I did it. I knew I ate the entire bag of pork rinds or beef jerky or pretzels, I knew there were a lot of calories in the bag, but it didn't really register. I used to think, gee I don't eat that much... I wonder why I can't seem to lose weight. Well, I wasn't eating that much for meals, but I was snacking all day long. I may have only eaten 1500 calories at meal times for the day, but I'd had 5,000 including my snacks (including chocolate, mmm chocolate). I'm new at this, I can only hope that I too can overcome the cravings, but you are NOT ALONE. I too am a night owl, its about the only time I can play World of Warcraft uninterrupted. I've decided that when I get a really bad craving I'm going to do 10 quick pushups and see what happens to that craving. I've been told that sometimes a food craving is really thirst! So I'll always keep a cold glass of unsweetened tea handy. Good luck to you on your journey.
