I am getting so caught up in the excitement and planning of my other adventures (travelling through the country, and lots of international places, writing a book, interviewing people, getting my business launched--and enjoying the adventures of my sabbatical year--not to mention a chance to live out my bucket list!) that the idea of the old conversations and issues around dieting are startign to seem so tired! Like I'm ready to get that handled already so I can make space for the big and important things in my life!

So while I get ready to blog about other things, I hope to have to do less and less about struggles around how I failed and what I didn't do!! Let's hope that is indeed the case and that I'm headed to a new chapter in my life and ready to close out this old one!

Meanwhile, today showed a small loss at 158 pds, and my appetite has reduced too.

Breakfast: coffee with hazelnut creamer, and in all the excitement, i forgot until almost lumc time that I hadn't eaten anything for bfast!

Lunch: salad, cabbage veggie dish mom made (incl. little bit of sugar and oil), skipped bread or rice, and had a little bit of dhokli (pasta-like whole wheat 3-4 pieces in a small portion of zucchini stew)

1/2 glass of almond milk

Snacks: 8-10 almonds, 1 orange, green tea

Dinner: 1 masala burger (120 cals, 12 g carbs), beefless strips (150 cals), in a stirfry with some olive oil (50 cals)

Exercise: Upper body 2 sets of weights: biceps, triceps, shoulders, upper back, and lunges and squats

Tomorrow: Want to get cardio in and get workout done earlier in the day--first thing in the morning.

And to stick to my commitments...adventure, fun, play, love, laughter, radiance, and health!

Staying on track..and creating new hard wiring!

Didn't workout today but making it a point to wake up early and workout tomm at 5 am! I am slowly developing a new way of life...things that I enjoy, no guilt, and just choosing the healthy options because I actually love them!

Look at my dad right now---he is out on the treadmill before dinner! No one reminds him. Go dad!

My meals have been well on track.
Breakfast: Oatmeal with nuts in it, some milk, and coffee with creamer
(about 300 cals total), and got the carbs content in earlier...all good carbs too!

Lunch: salad, cauliflower veg dish mom made (contains a little bit of oil and little bit of sugar), and a lentil/spinach dhal (also my source of carbs--although good ones) (about 200 cals at most)

Snack: 1 apple (80 cals), 12 almonds or so (80 cals), and some peanuts/chana (prbly 150 cals)

Dinner: stir fry with oil (80 cals), beafless strips (150 cals), and galangal sauce (80 cals), peppers and spinach with a side salad of arugula and little bit of mozarella (50 cals), and 1/2 tsp olive oil (40 cals)

Total: 1040 calories or so.

Energy, cravings, hunger all good...and in control.
Just gotta add workout!!

Ok, after that swinging great day, things did slide back up and went a little out of control, but I've regained some semblance of normalcy today, which I'll describe below.

Bur first, Thursday, the 9th: I skipped morning workout and in the evening had a concert to go to, but was meeting my friend for dinner. I had seen the menu and planned on a salad and a veggie app. However, best laid plans! My friend was over an hour late! The dinner was in a very fancy place, so I felt pressured to order a glass of wine while waiting. I ordered couple of small snacks--boiled peanuts and korean-style veggies. Then my friend came and by then I was getting tipsy on the wine and very hungry. By this point, the salad alone didn't seem to cut it and I didn't feel right to be such a cheap skate at that restaurant. So I did order the salad, another glass of wine, and ordered a slice of the leek tart. The bartender (a friend of my friend) brought up couple of small cocktails, and a dessert! And our table got served some awesome corn bread and some tater tots! So everything wrong on a diet! I ate happily.

The next day miraculously, I had only gained less than half a pound!! Must have been all that walking from 2 days ago! Lesson learned---activity is very imp!!
However, by Friday I was feeling very stressed about running errands for my trip and packing etc. Out of a need for comfort food, and my last hurrah, I ended up doing a chinese take-out---which was so high carb and fatty, that it put me to sleep right after eating and there goes the idea of packing for my trip!! My sleep cycle was all screwed!
By Satursday, I was upto 161/162...the rest of saturday was sensible eating (an omlet, a subway 1/2 flat bread veggie patty) but for late dinner, I did have a home made panini, including mozzarella and EVOO...i was a little hungry, but didn't really need to eat all this!

Sunday was mother's day, and despite my best intention to not gorge at the Indian temple we went to, I did end up going for seconds, and felt so gross and stuffed that right there I decided to stop being so at mercy of food and feeling so out of control. I don't respect myself when I go loose like that, and I can't stand firm to my image to my brother-in-law who tends to be sanctimonious!

Monday: I have woken up with a new resolve. To just be firm, resolved on what I am going to eat AHEAD of when the food shows up, and know how much and when. AND STICK TO IT. No cheating. Not even a single bite. Simple plan. Even when I'm travelling.Starting on this two-week trip in Philly where I presently am.

Breakfast: oatmeal or eggs or protein shake
Lunch: Salad and some portion of good carbs (saved for earlier in the day)
Snacks: only 1-2 fruits
Dinner: Soup, or salad, or stir fry's
Activity: 45-60 mins daily!

and controlling the thoughts. Not letting myself go. I AM on a plan. I am following a plan. I'll need to keep that conversation alive in my mind all day, every day.

Not at the whim of foods--I say when, I say what, I say great at the end of the day!!!!
