31 March 2017

Rejoining 9 years later, with all the ups-and-downs in life and weight, I'm back again at nearly the same time (spring) and weight I had originally joined back in 2008. Well, i'd like to consider I'm older and wiser, and have succeeded and failed a lot, so hoping to combine all those lessons this time around and finally live and own a brand-new lifestyle--not just about losing weight now! I know that even after I lose weight, it comes back easily due to emotional eating habits, cravings, learned behavior, social structure favoring crappy food, and the rollercoaster of life. There is no short-cut or temporary solution. Whatever I do to lose weight this time is what is going to keep it off for life...so it's not a prison sentence or diet anymore. I'm embracing a clean-eating, plant-based, dairy-free, low-fat, combined by active lifestyle. It is exciting to plan on the path of health. I've been feeling very out of control, guilty, unclean, reckless while on the unhealthy binge. It's not going to be easy, but I have to do this. The alternative is living a life in pain and sickness. Reminder to myself: By not following a healthy lifestyle, I've gotten to a point of nearly 200 pounds, out of control eating, poor cholestrol, high transglycerides, A1C levels, and inflammation all over the body, especially knees--I feel like an old lady with aching knees when I try to get up! I haven't had energy to walk or workout with this excess weight and my skin feels splotchy and spotted--instead of my usual bright, clean face. It's taken being sick twice this year in three months already! Shows my immunity is weak and I'm an easy target for diseases and infections. I can't live like this anymore. I don't want to squander away this precious gift of life. Well, being sick has given me a surprising gift--the ability to reset. In one week of being sick, I've lost 9 pounds, have only eaten plant-based foods and no junk, and not even craved any crap! I've been able to pause the mindless, uncontrollable habit of nonstop eating, and can now get full on two home-made clean meals. So building on this reset, I'm developing a new plan and will use this space to build the old muscles in a brand-new way! Wish me luck!

The last two days have been very redeeming. I managed to get out of my funk and get cracking. I have walked both days, 3 miles (1 hour) yesterday and 6 miles (2 hours today).

Food yesterday:
Protein shake with whey, soy milk, and strawberries
Stir fry with lots of veggies and meatless meatballs
1 apple
coffee with soy creamer
Not as much water.

Food today:
Protein shake
stir fry with 6 meatballs,
another 3 meatballs later
1 apple
green tea
coffee with soy creamer
lots of water with strawberries and cucumber.
Few almonds

Getting trained for my upcoming hiking adventures. I was feeling tired in 3 miles today, but continued and after 6 miles wasn't tired. Need to get this stiffness gone and become light and spritely.

Ok, so this was day 2 of getting rid of all the damage...it should be another 19 more days of being religious before I can really see a difference! No cheating in the interim! Fruits and veggies are very satisfying. Grains and beans can be indulged earlier in the day...just made a very delish bean soup today to last me 3 days.

Snacking on cucumbers, apples, etc. feels good. Not feeling too hungry even though the calories are only upto 600 cals today.
