Since college, the weight has hit me in threshold levels. When I was biking everywhere from Cambridge I was a fighting trim 165lbs. I was never in better shape than that. I was existing on a diet of red hot burritos and beer but my metabolism burned through that shit.
After I got a car my weight shot up to 185 and I hovered there for a while. I remember my girlfriend at the time poking my belly and demanding I lose it. It kinda annoyed me. That little bit of softness around the middle didn't mean anything in my mind.
Next stop, I moved to Kansas. 210 became my playground. On my own and eating out were the order of the day. Wendy's Spicy Chicken sandwich became my dinner meal of choice. I think I left Kansas for Cali 3 yrs later rocking a 235lbs form.
The next 5 yrs I yo-yo'd between 250 and 230. I called it my Successful Kirk belly. I looked like a later years Shatner.
Around 2000 I went to China for 3 months and almost got healthy again. Lots of walking and a drastic reduction in sugar made me slim down to the 210 range. Returning to the US I didn't pick up a taste for fast food immediately. It tasted funny and made me feel weird.
Only after getting a job on the other side of the world (West LA) and spending the next ten years doing a 2.5 hour commute each way did I balloon up to a massive 300+. During this time I tried Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Gyms, bought books, a weight set, joined a running club, attempted everything to curb my expanding condition. I've had limited success with each tactic. I'd eventually crave something and cave to the pleasure troll running around my brain.
Time to turn that shit around and return to the sub 200lbs Chris I know exists deep in this frame. I'll never look like the college me again. Bone density changes due to the weight I've had to support has seen to that. But I know I'll be a happier cat in lighter shoes.
