Prairie Rose's Journal, 07 October 2017

Wow, it's been a hard week! Getting used to this new way of eating is not easy. I've been so hungry I want to chew my own arm off!!! I know it's because portion control is a big issue for me, so eating "on a budget" like this means eating a lot less food than I'm used to.

I'm also figuring out how my favorite foods fit into the SmartPoints system, which in some ways doesn't make a lot of sense. I also have my own priorities about food, like not eating anything highly processed. So, Egg Beaters is 0 points, but an actual egg is like 3 or 4. But I'm suspicious of a processed egg product like egg beaters, so I'll take the points for real food! And brown rice is higher in points than white rice. Whaaa?

Anyway, the struggle and hunger pangs paid off: I'm down over 5 pounds already! I'm not sure I believe it, and won't until I see they're still off next week, but still, that was a lovely surprise at weigh-in this morning!

I bought a $1.25 egg white separator...use it every day...6-7 egg white scrambled in the AM is still less Kc than a single egg...and I'm building up that protein too

I lost 4lbs in my first week but seem to have put some back on... I imagine there are fluctuations at first. I am with you on the processed foods - I don't like all those WW recipes with egg substitutes and "lite" versions of things... I would rather take the points than the chemicals.
