Jules559's Journal, 22 May 2017

I "cheated" quite unintentionally on Saturday. Well, I knew what I was doing, but I was between a rock and a hard place.

We went to our friends to help with some building alterations they are doing. The bought lunch. Pizza and coke. Two slices and a cup of coke was brought to me. No one knows I am on a "diet", but even if they did, I would not expect them to make provision especially for me.

What was I to do? Refuse the food and offend people or suck it up and just eat. I tried to get my son to eat mine as well, but he is an elite athlete and eating crap goes against every fiber of his being as well, and he was having his own struggle with coke. I ended up sucking it up and eating.

Since then, all the cravings of the past are back. I don't care what it is, I just want to eat. I particularly crave a sausage roll. I did over eat yesterday a lot, but I cannot give in. I am stronger than this and my desire to be thin is bigger than my desire for food.

I am scared of the scale. A gain at this point is going to kill me. It's too soon to gain. I am going to fast today and tomorrow, and I will see if that helps.

What I have learned though. Sugar and Carbs are definitely addictive and best avoided at all cost.

Jules I know exactly how you feel. When my last challenge ended we went away for a long weekend and well lets say there was no healthy eating. Since then I am battling to get back into the swing of things and the cravings are terrible. All I can say is we have to just take it one day at a time and we will eventually be back on track.

Carbs are not all that bad. Staying low carb during your weekdays can allow you to indulge in some carbs on weekends :)

Carbs are not evil. Excess food is the problem, not carbs. And they are not addictive. Obviously if you deprive yourself of something, you will want it more. I can bet you that if you deprive yourself of protein, after a while you will want nothing more than a steak.

Restrictive dieting is what causes most people to fall of the wagon. Being less restrictive in your food/macro sources is the best option to keep consistent.

Jules559 the struggle is REAL!! although not ALL carbs are evil. Processed carbs like you find in bread and PIZZA are the problems... if you have a butternut for example with your dinner, you dont have that terrible "just ONE more slice" feeling you have when you eat pizza. Personally i can never stop at only 2 slices of pizza, i eat the entire thing by myself!! and yes, then the trouble starts because i just want more processed carbs after that. Dont write of real food just because its a carb. My granny always used to tell me "everything in moderation" that goes for pizza too. although moderation is different for every one, and we all fall into temptation and off the wagon some times. YOU CAN DO THIS, one meal at a time. Try focus on your goals and do your best to stick to them. and when in doubt, there will always be FS to support you. best of luck on your journey.

I have noticed a remarkable difference in my health since I have cut my carb intake. The terrible terrible tiredness I always used to feel has totally lifted, and all the aches and pains I used to suffer from in my joints is also very much improved. My skin has cleared up and my mood has definitely better. Low carb living is definitely working for me. The only time I have cravings, is when I overdo the carbs or sugar. Not everything works for everybody, but, LCHF is definitely working for me.

Be careful of punishing yourself over food. This is not the last time you will be in this predicament and if you make it all negative thereafter, you could end up losing all motivation. We are on this track for life and none of us are perfect. If we were, we wouldn't need this app 😜 Try to put that event to the side as a learning curve and move on. We have all been there! 💪🏻
