yknottoday's Journal, 10 January 2012

today is the first full day of my diet. i am having a bit of anxiety wanting to eat what i want. i think it's from when i was pregnant w/josh. i had delevoped a thyroid disorder and gestational diabetes and was on a strict diet, very strict and i always felt hungry to the point of tears. especially with having to cook for my skinny husband and my other son, eli. i would cook them all the yummy carb loaded things i wasn't allowed and they'd eat it while i ate sugarless cardboard while having monsterous cravings. after i had josh the diabetes went away and the thyroid got better, but not completely gone. i ate everything i wanted! in fact since josh's birth i think the majority of my diet had become carbs. i'm doing atkins which is really hard because i am such a picky eater.and oh how i love my milk!

Protein and exercise are both very important to manage thyroid...I've dealt with thyroid problems for 16 years now. The only time I can ever lose any type of weight, even with my thyroid meds where they should be, is when I eat lots of protein and get regular exercise. have you tried almond milk? The unsweetened type has only 1 gram of carbs.
