eightpac's Journal, 02 October 2016

I am happy with the result considering it is holiday time. Will persevere on. I am finding daily reflection really good and it has helped me keep my food in check, know if I have gone wrong quickly and put in corrective actions before a mini-disaster kicks in. Exercise is good PT is earning his keep for sure.

You've done so well eightpac! I know you were worried with eating this last week. I see you are on high protein and I agree that extra protein works for me too.

You are correct I find that the protein keeps me full. Also helps in recovery from exercise. My main for reason liking protein is that when I go out i just order meat and kick-out chips, buns anything to do with carbs and I am generally fine as that takes away 90% of processed foods off the table. Problem though is that the taste is sometimes too good. Today I ate at least 350g of Buffalo wings and 130g of ribs which is massive for one sitting but because it was all meat I feel it is better than adding chips which cause carb cravings for rice, bread, icecream and then it all goes downhill from there. At least with all meat my cravings are not sugar based.

True! I feel better splurging on meats than over doing the carbs. Tonight I got sucked into bread and a croissant. So easy to just keep going back.

lol on the bread and croissant. I try to keep away from those but hard when they are the items oonstantly stocked in the pantry.

Oh true! The kids love them over the school holidays. But they tempt me! Tonight it's gonna be high protein, low carb and vegies. I'm baking homemade sausage rolls for the kids and husband. I always put extra grated veg and nice seasonings in them but they are not for me! I will eat my own separate dinner!

It must be hard to not eat the sausage rolls when you are cooking them, the constant temptation. Whenever I have to cook for my boys its off to buy takeout. My wife hates this but at least I do not have to cook for 20-40 mins with the constant aroma telling my brain to just have a little portion and then the trouble starts from there.

I am pretty good with avoiding stuff cooked for others. But sometimes I fail. Usually it's the leftovers that tempt me!

I was going to suggest a nice kid-friendly meal is healthy tacos or burritos. As long as all the tortillas and taco shells get eaten, then the rest is the lean chilli meat sauce, lettuce and salad items etc that wont wreck your diet. Our kids love them. I also add shredded ham as a choice to add as well. I eat it all except the taco shells or burrito wrappers. 😃
