I eat once a day in the evening around 5. It works great for me. My wife tried it, but didn't have the same results. Everyone is different that's for sure.

I wanted to enter a new diet and call it "Intermittent Fasting," but it only allowed me to create another "LadyinDenim's Own Diet."

I was doing it until yesterday. It works, but it's not something I could keep doing. I've heard other people say they weren't hungry, but my stomach was growling at me like a wild animal. I hope you have better luck!

Did you check to see if one of the existing IF diets fits what you want to do? (There are 4 different variations already in the database.) Part of the problem may be that there are so many different variations of IF, it would be difficult to put them all in the DB. However you do it, good luck!!

It takes some time to get used to eating only once a day, I'm trying to get used to eating once every other day. I've found that "hunger" is a deceptive concept. I'm not really hungry physically, but I definitely think I need to eat, worse when I can see and smell certain foods. Most of the battle is in perception and the thinking about food more than in the physically needing of it.

I did read all of them. I wanted to create one that started at 12 hours and went up to an open-ended length of time. I have the day off today and was prepared to enter in Dr. Fung's recommendations and warnings in the sidebar. To answer your question, I have decided to eat on odd numbered days for right now. I want to extend the length of the fasting periods in time, but not right out of the gate. The last time I was normal weight was 1982, so to get the hormone benefits, I need to fast at least 24 hours at a time (as I understand).

@Phil, I am hopeful the hunger won't be an issue. I work in a decidedly unappetizing environment, and hubby won't expect me to cook for him on fast days. When he makes something for himself, I can take the dogs out.

Lady, may I suggest bulletproof coffee or fat only fat bombs if hunger takes over before you you plan ending your fast, until you adjust to it? You still get many of the benefits of IF when not consuming carbs or protein. Good luck to you!

Pandasmom, where are the options in the database? I don't recall seeing any when I was searching, so I also created my own diet. I'm doing 5/2 following Brad Pilon's Eat Stop Eat protocol.

I ate yesterday around 5pm, I felt uncomfortable till the time I went to bed. I woke up this morning feeling better. I won't eat again till tomorrow, I'm trying to establish a pattern of eating every 48 hours, I want that to be my new normal.

I felt stuffed like a turkey. lol I had six ounces of pork cracklins, four ounces of smoked sausage, and an avocado with some unsweetened tea. I don't always log my food, I've got a grip on the macros and calories I'm consuming so I don't feel the need.

The fact you felt satiated after consuming 12 ounces of food indicates to me that your body has already corrected its leptin/ghrelin issues. That is my goal!

One of my diet rules (that I've often bent or broke) is to only eat enough to make the hunger demon go away. Usually three or four generous bites does it for me, but it's hard when you've got half your plate staring at you. I was never the kind to leave anything on a plate, but I've gotten to where I always have left overs that I eat later, I try to make it much later. The rare times I have a diet soda I drink maybe four ounces out of twelve and put the rest in the fridge. My grocery bill has dropped considerably, of course we still buy a lot of groceries because I don't expect my wife and daughter to eat the way I do, and they don't, but just for my own consumption purposes I'm down to about $20/week, I'm striving to nip that down to $10/week!

@Phil... are you still trying to lose? Do you have another weight goal in mind? I don't want to lose anymore right now, but I love the effects of IF.

Not trying to lose, IF is part of my maintenance strategy. Still figuring it out!
