Frankly I was surprised that my weight wasn't up more than it was. We flew down to NC last Saturday for my niece's graduation from UNC and my mom, who lives in Cary, had a whole affair catered. Lots of southern delicacies, especially mac and cheese, potato salad, rolls, fried chicken, and desserts. I stayed with the chicken and veggie platter. Had a few low carb fruits. Tried to fill up on water...Unfortunately the chess pie squares called my name. Also, true to form, the trip caused me to be "irregular." Got back home Monday night and tried hard this week to get back on track. My fasting blood sugars have been all below 100 and my ketone meter has been showing in the normal range, so I don't think things are too out of whack. Got to get back into pushing the fluids and increasing my greens. Bought 2 bags of country greens at WalMart last night (mixture of collards, mustard, and turnip greens) and will cook them with a little bacon fat ("for seasoning") today. Started walking this week as the weather has been somewhat consistently pleasant. Upward and onward!

Glad you had a good trip and family celebration. All you can do in those situations is try to control the damage, but still be social and enjoy yourself. There's plenty of time back home to get back on track. Onward and downward!

Now you 're cooking my favorite! Greens and bacon fat! I just planted 3 tree collards so that I can have an endless supply!

What's a tree collard?

EH...it is an amazing plant that can get 6-10ft tall and it has giant collard leaves that are high in nutrient and no oxalic acid (that stuff that binds iron and make your mouth fell gritty), Here is a link for more info.: http://treecollards.blogspot.com/2011/04/everything-you-never-knew-you-wanted-to.html
