Starting to feel better. It's cold season. Haven't walked all week, but once the cough is gone I will get back on track, probably by Monday. My oldest son is applying for a job today. It will be his first job interview, he's 17. Not sure I'm ready for this stage in life, but here it comes. I homeschool so he will work part-time at a sub shop during the lunch hours (10-2). He needs to start saving for college and a car. He also needs some spending money. It's time. My baby is growing up.

Christy - I hope you feel better soon...sometimes I think the cough is the worst because it is so HARD to shake it. Good luck to your son!! I totally know where you are coming from. My daughter graduated from H.S. in June (had just turned 18) and went looking for her first job. It is really tough job market and she had a lot of interviews finally landed a job at a fast food restaurant. The restaurant was a franchise and privately owned. The manager (the owners son) decided to fire her and hire his girlfriend. She was so upset as they just had given her a little more responsibility. My husband went in and talked to one of the supervisors (the manager was not in) and he said that he would not have fired her as she was doing well. Anyway....long story short it was for the best as we put her in school to take a Nursing Assistant course (she already said she wanted to go into nursing). She wrapped it up and landed a job at the largest nursing facility in the US!! She loves it. She wanted to work with dementia/mental health residents and she got that too. So good luck to your son and I know your concerns and heartaches!!! I am sure he will do fine.

Glad you are starting to feel better. I wish your son good luck on his interview. I can only imagine how hard it is to see your child get to this stage of life. But think about the man he is about to become. That has to give you something to be proud of.
