Droppit's Journal, 23 February 2016

I have been so good all week, and I've still gained. I'm pretty sure it's hormonal water weight, but that doesn't make me feel better about it. I just feel like a failure, and like all my hard work doesn't matter.

I'm so tempted to go drown my sorrows in chocolate right now.

I know a person can feel the way you do and I have been down that road. Do not look at the scale for a day or so and then weigh yourself. Sometimes the scale does not tell the truth. Hope you have a better day. Stop the chocolate temptation right now.

You said you have "been good all week" are you sure you tracked all your food and drinks the best you can. I find I will sometimes think I can cheat myself and measure 1 tbsp of peanut butter and then take out an extra dollop and lick it off the spoon and try to think that it does not count. Until we are diligent and accurate we are not being "100%"

Hey Droppit, the weight didn't go on over night, and won't come off that quickly either. You've lost 33 pounds since December - Lots of reasons to be happy about that. Stay focused and keep moving forward. Cheers !

Hey droppit, two things if I can suggest. One is look at some other posts of folks that have a stuck scale or small weight gain (usually water) when eating right...it happens to all of us. Secondly as @Lakeontario mentioned above...try logging EXACTLY everything you eat & figuring out exactly what the quantities are...you might be suprised at where "invisible" calories are coming at you. I had to do this and it really suprised me, made me rethink a lot of food choices, too.

Are you exercising more than usual or building muscle? There are so many reasons why our bodies fluctuate...and it really is NORMAL. I find that when I weigh myself daily, I start to become obsessed with the scale. Now I weigh myself twice a week; Mondays, which are my official weigh in day and the only scale reading that truly matters to me, and Thursdays, which just helps me to know how my week is going and whether or not I'm on track. I know others weigh in more often, but I just don't want to define my success by that scale anymore because it is enough to drive me crazy. I quite honestly feel like it slows down or even works in reverse just to tease me and get me down! Not to mention, the scale can be a deceiver! How do your clothes fit, how do you feel, and are you measuring your body to see inches lost instead of pounds lost?

Besides, you are only a few pounds away from being HALFWAY to your goal. How cool is that?!!
