Hermiones Mom's Journal, 10 February 2016

No -- I don't generally weigh myself daily. But by the end of the day yesterday, I realized that I hadn't gone to the bathroom for several days, and that I was likely to weigh a lot less by this morning. And sure enough: ta dah! 168.8. On the other hand, my birthday is coming up this weekend, and I have already got 4 birthday celebration meals on the calendar. Thus, I don't expect to be at this weight next week, so I figured I should post so I could enjoy it while it lasts!
168.8 lb Lost so far: 65.2 lb.    Still to go: 26.8 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Thanks -- I'm going to be good. I don't drink, so that gets rid of one potential source of badness, and I'm still so scared to eat too much wheat or lactose and get sick, that I am likely to do OK. Tomorrow night a friend is taking me to a restaurant where they make excellent fish and sautéed spinach, so if I stick with that, I'll be ok. But Saturday night I'm making lasagna here at home and that will be a blowout. I don't have to go anywhere on Sunday luckily. I am using lactose free dairy in the lasagna, but I don't have the heart to force anyone else to eat gluten free lasagna noodles, so I'm using whole wheat. I guess I figure if it cleans me out, I'm not likely to gain any weight. We'll see.

Thanks folks -- I'm thrilled. But I'm used to the fact that whenever I enter a new "decade" I'm likely to bounce back and forth for a couple of weeks before I start heading downward. I have to say, when I break into the next decade I will be ecstatic -- seeing a 15 in my weight will have me dancing in the streets.

I totally get the bouncy bouncy. No matter what happens, just remember that you've seen the 60s, you have the map and you can find your way back. Have some wonderful birthday celebrations! Happy Birthday 2 Ewe!

Thanks so much Vickie 5966. You are absolutely right. I had this same experience at 179-180. Took a couple of weeks before I stabilized and then started dropping through through the 170s. I'm perfectly happy with this process -- well, maybe not perfectly happy -- but I'm used to it. And more than any other time, I feel like this is permanent, and I will keep the weight off this time, because I really have significantly altered the way that I eat and my level of activity. I so appreciate the support on FS.

Happy Birthday! Enjoy every bite. Just less of them. Don't forget your "doggy bag" for left overs.

Had a lovely dinner with my one of my oldest er... longest standing... er... person I have known longest girlfriends. Ate delicious fish with green beans and salad. Had small gluten free chocolate lava cake with berry sorbet for dessert. I think it got to me. I'm having a little trouble today. But I will be very good today because tomorrow I'm making lasagna and eating birthday cake, which will probably about kill me. But the good part of this is that I won't be tempted again until my next birthday!

I'm making the lasagna myself -- all lactose free, but with whole wheat noodles. Don't know if it will make me sick or not. I ordered a German Chocolate Cake for my Peruvian sister, Charo, who has the same birthday as me, and German Chocolate is her favorite. But I wouldn't dare eat that. I ordered a small chocolate soufflé cake that is gluten free and has butter but no other dairy. I am going to make lactose free ice cream to go with it. i'm sure I will be ill -- I'm already sick today from last night -- but it's likely to discourage me from making any errors in the near future.'

The lasagna isn't bad it probably was the portion. I've eat it at Easter and lost weight. Don't give up; I'm not.

Wish that were true DMZur -- but with my IBS, wheat is a big problem. But I just can't face anymore lasagna made from zucchini strips instead of pasta.

My acupuncturist says IBS is a yeast infection in the colon. Once I stopped eating sugar wheat and bread items continuing yeast .... My IBS vanished. That was years ago. I only get flare ups if I eat what I shouldn't. Which is more than I should of course, but for a dozen western doctors to scratch their heads and try to give me big pharma drugs and not have a clue ....? Scary. Perhaps if you cut it out completely just for a week or two see if you can for a test and then you'll know. My body is so over run with yeast that anything I put in my body triggers it. Yeast feeds on sugar and also on itself ... Ew. It sucks. But at least I know how to avoid it if I can avoid those foods. Just my two cents ... Please no angry ranting anyone ... Just saying what works for ME :)!
