OK, so as to make it public ... seems like when you get older you don't need hardly any of what you have spent YEARS eating, trying to get down to an art. My body has changed. Without telling me. I am suddenly "pre-diabetic" and it seems I take in WAY too much sodium. Well, now you tell me! No complaints, though. Compared with some I am doing very good, indeed. So I am happy and should be content. But I am not. Ah, welcome to life. My VA doctor suggested I enroll in what I term the "fat boy class," or MOVE program the Veteran's Administration Hospital here in Boise sponsors. Loose a little weight. The idea is to keep vets healthier until they die by teaching them how to eat properly, since most everybody is "pre-diabetic" or "hypertensive" these days. Actually, I like the instructor and coach. She is very good. An RN now, and a good motivator for me. I am a little over weight at under 200 lbs (I am short for an American male), and technically obese. What youth could deal with, age cannot. So here I am. Counting calories. Trying to remain healthy? 'Till what, I die? It's gonna' happen, you know. Sooner rather than later, I think. I am already 62 and I am not going to live forever ... don't know if it is worth it or not. Maybe at least dieting will help me build "character."
