Am over the moon with this new low 🥳 This follows two days fasting. Breaking fast three days from now. Plan to include bone broth, liver and onions, green beans with bacon. Halloween is next week. Hubby bought trick-or-treat candy and hid it in the house somewhere per my request. Am fasting on Halloween. I Googled the calories for the candy and plan to avoid it for the most part. I'm staying off the chocolate and will include measured amounts of taffy on eating days.

Awesome drop 👏! Keep up your hard work. It's a good plan to fast that day. I decided to have a Payday (the 🍬) the other day because I used to really enjoy them, and I was given one at work. To be honest I didn't really enjoy it either they've changed the recipe or maybe my taste have changed. I don't really eat candy these days I mainly just either eat fruit or baked goods that children and I make together. But it was so disappointing to have wasted my calories for something like that and then it wasn't that great. Would have been so much happier with cheese 🧀, lol 😆.

Very Nice 🙂💗

Thank you rc & YOH 🙂 @Leah, Payday is/was one of my favorites as well. I know what you mean about not wanting to "waste calories." Lemon meringue pie isn't as good to me as sautéed beef liver. I think our tastes do change. I often have calories to "spend" at the end of the day and have to decide which pleasure foods are going to be satisfying without triggering a binge. Lately, my winners are canned peaches, pickled beets, peanut butter toast. I used to eat popcorn, but rarely have 800 calories to spare 😆 I need to add pickled herring to the mix 😋

One part of the problem is that I had covid last year or maybe it was a year and a half ago I have trouble remembering now. Anywho no symptoms whatsoever minus I noticed some taste changes yogurt such as Chaboni doesn't taste right it always taste musty regardless of the date so I switched to Noosa although now I've quitted almost entirely because of the added sugar content but I digress. At first I couldn't eat any proteins at all even peanut butter tasted unpleasant and then I found it changed to only protein when warm because they all tasted plasticky burnt. I still eat a lot of my protein such as eggs and steak such as that lukewarm or little cooler than what most people might normally. And this is because of that taste issue still remains to this day to some extent.

The paydays, take fives, any of the candy bars that rely heavily on pecans, pistachios, or macadamias really nuts of any kind are my favorite! Maybe that's where I get it from as they say you are what you eat...! 🤔🙃😂

Awesome! I love how you had your husband hide the Halloween candy. 😂 I always give out fun toys so I don't have to have it (other treats are locked up in theater room cabinets) my kids tease me we are one of "those" families. But the kids always like it and it's at least not a tooth brush! Good job fasting!!!! I am too! On Halloween! Hope I survive walking that much with my younger kids. I was gonna stop the day before but feel great and am enjoying the weightloss too much to stop yet so we will be in it together!

Thank you Storms and Foody ❤ @buenita, thanks 🥰 As you know, I started eating sweet potatoes after seeing them featured in your meal pics. Hubby tried one, became a convert and eats them 3-4 times a week, now. Last night, he announced, "I'm going to Aldi. I just got an alert on my phone they have the organic sweet potatoes in." You are signed up for sweet potato alerts? "Well, yeah!" He came home 30 min later with a full display box of them 😆

@Leah, so sorry covid impaired your sense of taste ☹️ Your comment about the nuts got me thinking. Maybe it's the nuts I am craving? I looked up peanuts and they are rich sources of magnesium and phosphorus 🤔 FS has them in the database for 170 calories per 1 1/5 cup salted in the shell peanuts. I love cracking and eating peanuts. I am going to buy some, now! One cup serving is too small for me, so I'll double that and skip the Laffy Taffy on peanut nights 😀

@T3r3sa7, I just really love the tradition of opening our doors and giving freely. I suggested to hubby we give out dollar coins and frankly he was too cheap (or should we say thrifty, he's Scottish) 😆 It sounds like you are fasting a week or more. I cap my longest fasts at 7 days and typically fast 3 days a week. I like my body to store up salts and nutrients between fasts 🙂

I'm impressed that you can eat just a little candy. For me it's a gateway drug that just sucks me into old carboholic ways. I can't do it - and haven't had a mass market candy in years. I do indulge once in awhile in good very dark chocolate over 86%, though even that can cause some carb creep.

Great job on your fasting!!

@erika, thanks 🙂 I haven't had much candy since June, so I'm not sure how it will go. I had three bite sized candy bars in Kansas City and they were disappointing. So far, I've had good experiences eating bread, saltines, cake, pie, ice cream, jam, apple butter without triggering a landslide (or backslide). I was going to say "all or nothing" doesn't work for me but that isn't true. I take an all or nothing approach to sobriety (24 years clean and sober) because experience demonstrated it's easier to avoid mood altering substances completely than to manage them. That's what fasting does for me: I avoid food completely. Even avoiding snacks between meals is fasting. I don't do it. I'm very strict that way.

You're welcome LadyD, the sweet potato alert/story is priceless 😂🤣

Yeah I usually don't do long water fasts. Even short ones are hard for me sometimes. 😂 I only do longer ones if it's for health reasons. (This is just my 3rd longer one in 10 years.) I recently got diagnosed with PCOS which has messed up my hormones, raised my insulin to pre-diabetes range, raised cholesterol, with those things causing me to gain 50 lbs the last two years and making it hard to lose. So since fasting gives my insulin a rest and helps my body become more sensitive to it, I'm just listening to my body and doing it until I don't feel great. And hoping it'll lower my insulin more. I've lowered it 1 point but need a few more. BUT I am taking a morning pill of electrolytes, minerals and B vitamins, then in the evening drinking a very disgusting shot of sea salt minerals. 🤢 I'm doing a month of detoxing between events so when I feel done with water fasting, I'll move into juicing, then end/transition with smoothie days, soups/salads before going back to food. My body can maintain with eating healthy but it takes a lot for me to lose since the hormones and insulin fight me so detoxes are the only way I can right now. But I only do big ones like juicing once a year and instead usually do ones with green smoothies, salads, etc.
