The last few pounds are the hardest. Cardio (walking) alone, while better than nothing, doesn't keep you strong as you age. Building muscle will boost your metabolism, reshape your body and help you drop the last few pounds.

Pendergast thanks. I will invest in the dumbbells 💪🏻 and continue to walk. I’m ultimately trying to find something I can do for the rest of my life. Also I hurt my shoulder with weights last year and it is just getting back to 90% ROM. Light weight should be ok though

If you are new to lifting weights, always start light. You can do higher repeitions, 10-20. Make sure that you have the correct form. As you gradually increase weight, make sure that your form is still correct. If you are not interested in body building or competitive athletics, there is no need to push your maximums. Just make sure that your muscles feel a little burn, and you will make progress. Some people learn to love the feeling of slightly sore muscles. It feels like progress. And, makes me want to keep going.
