ZenusWarriorPrincess's Journal, 27 June 2023

I'm not doing much fasting this week, just eating when hungry (which is often some sort of small fast, thanks to reduced hunger from keto) & maintaining my macros. I will work on building some good gut health by adding more fiber. Another goal is to reduce inflammation, so I'll start taking some Omega 3 supplements. I also bought some canned salmon & will make low-carb salmon patties this week. I bought some skin on whiting that I will have one day this week as well. I guess I need to reduce my red meat & bacon consumption as well 😒. I will probably get in a little more fasting next week, and I definitely will the week after that. I am working on balancing things out. I had a great short walk yesterday. I was able to put a little more pepper in my stepper because I was able to go alone. I normally have to take my grandson with me, and it is more stop n go...lol. Anywhooo... Have a great day, WARRIORS!!! We've got this!!! 😘

Keto/low carb may not be necessary for everyone, but there are some that benefit greatly from it... especially morbidly obese sugar/carb addicts (or pre-diabetics) like myself. If you can loss weight by fueling on carbs, then I am happy for you. Do you! 🙂

It's necessary for me too. I have done every plan under the sun. Weight-watchers, Jenny Craig, Atkins. The one that has had the best results for me is Keto+IF. To each his/her own. Since upping my RDI I also increased my target carb range to 15%. That may still be too high for me, time will tell.

I'm in the same boat as you. It was a little difficult at first since most items have carbs/sugar but now I've gotten use to eating a low carb diet. I'm also going to look into Salmon patties since I never made them before. Looking forward to seeing you crush your fitness goals.

Yes, it will Deb! I'm sure you know that all we have to do is keep an eye on our hunger & cravings to adjust. I am keeping mine at 20 net or below for now. I hope you have a fabulous day! 🙂

Nice disclaimer. 😉 Have you tried or heard of supplementing with turmeric? I found that the right amount helped my joint aches and rosasia. I prefer capsules over gummies because tumeric can stain, including teeth.

@Swayneman THANKS! 😊 I wish you all the best as well! Salmon patties are delish! The only ingredient that I have to leave out from my original recipe is the bread crumbs which help hold them together. I have found that cooking them on medium with the lid on helps. I don't add substitutes like almond, coconut flour, etc. Basically it's just the salmon, onion, eggs, salt, and pepper all ground together. Then form it into patties and fry. I look to use coconut oil for cooking.

@lineruds I have read about turmeric. Ugh... I HATE swallowing pills. I'm going to try to get some in with my food first and see how that goes before buying supplements. I may end up buying some though. Thanks for the input! 🙂

It doesn't hurt to eat it in food, but it's such a strong flavor that you may not get the benefits a supplementation offers.

@lineruds We will see. I just don't want to end up with a 5 gallon bucket full of supplements like I have done before 🤣

@lineruds ok... I bought the turmeric supplement, fish oil, Forced Factor smart greens (sounds awesome), AND Vitamin D3 (trying to get some naturally, but I need extra for adrenaline fatigue). @Debra I'm pretty sure the smarter greens are inferior to your A1g supplement, but it's something. I didn't see it when I bought the probiotics the other day.

I bet it didn't make your pocket book squeal like AG1 did mine! I have read a lot of reviews on AG1 since purchasing it and most people don't like the taste, if you don't like the taste, you are not going to drink it every day. All I can taste in AG1 is papaya with a hint of pineapple and the smell is very much Spirulina so that may be a turn off for some too. But starting anywhere at all in getting your nutrition profile more robust is a good thing. Us carb-addicts (at least me) are never concerned about nutrition when we are snacking down, sad but true. Baby steps😁

Hey, ZWarrior Princess, I wouldn't worry about reducing the bacon and beef. They are excellent nutrition, really. So nice to have a Keto crew here.

No, it was only like $20-25. As fas as taste, it isn't exactly a Mt. Dew (lol), but it is bearable. You are so right, Deb!!! Sugar/carb addicts (at least me) only care about their next hit. Sad, but true. How about, I ATE BROCCOLI tonight, granted it did have cheese. Baby steps...😁

@Erika Yes...great keto choices, but I need to work on inflammation right now too. They aren't very good for that. I'm not cutting them out completely, just cutting back.
27 Jun 23 by member: ZenusWarriorPrincess
@Erika. I need to get my Omega 3 and Omega 6 fats a little more in balance.
27 Jun 23 by member: ZenusWarriorPrincess
@Erika, I agree! Great to have like minded to converse with! 🙂

BTW... Cheese is a good keto food, but it can cause inflammation in some people as well.

I do Omega-3, Tumeric and Vit D as well. I also add in a little Ginger which can be good for inflamation and settle a restless stomach. Best wishes.

@Penderg Thanks for the input! 🙂 The turmeric I bought has ginger in it.

Tumeric with ginger sounds good
