ZenusWarriorPrincess's Journal, 17 June 2023

Just finished a leisure walk around the block. Nothing major, but the sunshine, fresh air, & nature sure was nice. 😊
I ended up eating about 8oz of oxtail, along with a cup of broth and sliced tomatoes, when breaking my fast last night. 2 problems... I ate too much & ate too late. It didn't finish cooking until 8:30 last night. It made me miserable!I should have just waited until at least this morning to eat since it was so late. Lesson learned. Have a great day all!

I figured it out! I just need to click on the date and up come the comments and hearts! I know what you mean about eating too late in the day. For me, it's a recipe for heartburn. If we make to 7pm or so, it's pretty easy to then go overnight and refeed the next day.

🤗 Exactly! The real kicker is that I wasn't even hungry...smh. It was just that it had been cooking all day, and it was "time" to eat. 🙄 Dr. Fung warned me...lol.

I've done pretty good otherwise though. Down about 11 lbs in 10 days 🤗

It's great to see immediate results! I still eat some high glycemic index foods during refeeds, which loads me up with glycogen and water. It takes two days to lose the water again and I don't record those gains on here. It makes for a messy weight graph and I live for the downhill slope! I do record daily weights on my Fasting Hours Tracker. I ate tonight and plan to eat midday tomorrow, then fast again for an indeterminate amount of time. I admire your clean refeeds. So happy to fast in tandem!

Yes! I feel like I have a "buddy" now 😊 We are gonna kill it (the fat, that is)! Thanks! I'm trying to stay clean, because I know that's the only way to break my addiction. I have already experimented with it, a bowl of rice & I'm spinning up dust to get to the store for chocolate. 😂 I CAN do a sweet potato without huge cravings, but I really want to get fat adapted. I have been there before, and it feels GLORIOUS!

I plan on starting an extended fast again Monday. I really want to get to 72 hours. The longest I have done is 51 so far. In the mean time I will do time restricted. 19 hrs fast today.

I did some research and bone broth won't kick you out of autophagy. It can help you work up to the longer fasts.

https://qz.com/quartzy/1428139/a-fasting-experts-tips-for-making-it-to-your-next-meal Yea, bone broth is great to help you get used to fasting. Dr. Pradip suggests using it to break longer fasts because it contains all of the minerals to keep one from having refeed syndrome. Although there is no danger in getting that until >5 days, I still worry about it after just 48 hours...lol. The indoctrination, ya know??

Fung's Complete Guide to Fasting discusses this on pp 231-232. You are at risk for refeeding syndrome when you are malnourished (POWs, anorexics), alcoholic, have a BMI 18.5 or less. It occurs in 0.43% of very sick hospitalized patients. It's a function of depleted phosphorous stores. Phosphorous and magnesium are needed for the synthesis of glycogen, fat and protein. If phosphorous has already leached from our bones following a period of malnutrition, it will come from our muscles, including the heart and diaphragm. Bone broth contains phosphorous. I don't worry about refeeding syndrome for the short fasts I have been doing. I will check out that link after I finish this Mindy Peltz one. It's over 2 hours long and actually holding my interest. I just don't have time to see it all in one go. I have bone broth bubbling on the stove right now!
