I had gallstones pain, it was very unpleasant and I feel for you. I had my gallbladder removed, then I kept a normal diet, with smaller portions to not push the stomach. Before,Iost a lot of body fat, from 40% down to 25%, that reduced the attacks from monthly to 6 months between. You also need to moderate your fat intake, but dont do 0 fat as that leads to bile buildup and attacks. After surgery, I've manaaged to have large meals, meals rich in fat without any problems. Get well!

I would ask your doctor for a referral to a registered dietitian. They will use your medical records to create menus that won’t conflict with all of your conditions.

I concur with JustBananas. Eating to manage a medical condition is something that can benefit from professional guidance. Just be sure to go to an RD and not a "nutritionist. " Anybody can hang out a shingle as a nutritionist, whereas an RD will have extensive education and solid credentials

I’ve had gallstones a few years ago and the only option was to remove the gallbladder because I was already having regular and really painful crisis. No one can really imagine the pain unless they experience it but I remember describing being as bad as contractions. After surgery the pain goes away, however with time you will find what’s the acceptable amount fat your body can digest well at a time/in a day. I find FatSecret really helpful not only to lose weight but also in scenarios like this. For me it really helped me understand what my body can tolerate fat wise. 100g of fat in a day from avocados or from other sources , I will feel the same effect afterwards. Hopefully your symptoms are mild but if you do need to remove it.. you will be perfectly fine. You can eat pretty much anything but maybe not all in the same day 😁

Thank you so much for your comments, They are just what I need, I know all about the pains, felt like I had been stabbed. I am hoping for a reprieve from surgery provided I can clean up my diet and get my weight under control. I'm in Holland and here to work as a dietician or nutritionist you do need credentials, so I'm in good hands there. I shall look for one, appointment on the 18th at the polyclinic. I am also seeking advice from the local Ayurvedic practitioner, (who is also an MD) about how to adapt my diet now. I feel that there have to be more options than surgery and I was not offered or even made aware of any of them. So I will arrive at the appointment on Tuesday armed with information and possibilities. Wish me luck!
