Backto10's Journal, 27 July 2022

I'm baaaaaaack!!!! I can't believe in 2015 I got down to 174 & now I'm right back up to 264 - thanks a lot COVID & emotional eating.

I went to the doctor to get help with my weight gain. She wasn't helpful at ALL.... so it's up to me to get back down. My goal at 44 & 5'10 is to get to 200 & stay there. If I can fall under for wiggle room that would be AWESOME.

I'm not going to look at the scale daily but the start of every month. My first goal is to up my water intake, & be consistent with walking my dog twice a day.

I do love my curves but I hate how it photographs I really need to tone up & slim down.... HERE WE GOOOOO!!!!!
264.0 lb Lost so far: 0 lb.    Still to go: 64.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

I was just reading a great article about how unhelpful most medical professionals are with weight loss. You can do it but if you need help don’t feel discouraged from finding a doc that will be in your corner 💛

I hope you know you are worth having a supportive health care professional who will partner with you in your weight loss AND maintenance journey! You are worth it! It's surprising how unprepared many health care professionals are with working with patients struggling with weight loss. I ended up finding a specialist, covered under my insurance, that has a long-term approach to weight loss and weight maintenance. It's helpful to have people who know why the body might show a weight gain on a very-low-calorie diet, who will work to identify how my body reacts to different macronutrients, and makes space for others like me celebrate the successes and navigate the struggles of maintaining weight loss. Fortunately I don't need to be perfect (lost 90 lbs, gained 36 lbs, have 25 lbs to get back to maintenance). There's a lot of the same type of support here, too. I am planning to use Fat Secret for my meal planning...and for additional accountability and supporr. I hope my journey is helpful to others, too.

Wt gain on low calorie is easily explained. Good Google question for you.

I hope your doctor ran labs, as you could take those (Lipid panel for cholesterol, A1C for diabetes check) along with blood pressure readings to a licensed dietician for a diet plan suited to your health goals. At 44, you're likely entering peri-menopause, and decreasing estrogen can mess with your metabolism. I would ask your doctor for a referral or contact your insurance company. Welcome back 🙂

Thank you so much everyone!!!! You've given me GREAT advice. The doctor did blood work & everything came back normal. I will do the research as suggested & go to a dietitian this time 🥰😘

I'm happy you are "back". --- When I went to a Nutritionist in my Doctor's office she gave me a handout of Michele Obama's food plate - I don't think that will be helpful to me. Hope your nutritionist does better than that for you.

I so hear you and hope all the best for you. You deserve it! I’m old (70) and almost totally sedentary… but am beginning to take more and more steps - post three back surgeries. My doc put me on a wait list for a registered dietician to help me. I started waiting in February and am now one month in. This one is sponsored by Medicare. It is free to me. I really like the program and meet privately with her weekly for a month then bi-weekly till six month completion. This is incredible baby steps program aiming for long term success. I love to drive. I enjoy quilting and machine embroidery along with knitting and crocheting. I like to read and watch tv with my hubs. Currently I walk about 500 steps a day and hope soon to begin on my recumbent bike at least a couple of minutes a day. I’m also trying to do the stairs (17) every day and sometimes twice. I’m definitely a grandmom (9) and kids range from 38-48. I’d love to hang out and learn together.
