Deb_N's Journal, 11 August 2014

My treadmill is broken and I can't afford a gym membership so whenever the weather outside is too hot, windy, rainy, cold or icy, I just walk around inside the house. I really admire the people who walk and jog by my home on days when I would not go outside. :)

Edited to add today is the day actor Robin Williams committed suicide. RIP. If you are depressed or suicidal, please reach out to a mental health professional, physician, family member or friend. You could do calisthenics. I had a workout DVD with Cindy Crawford, I didn't like it so much. I prefer to make my own exercise regime.

It's not that bad when you have your headset on. Sorry that your treadmill is broken and hopefully it will be repaired soon.

You could go to the bottom of a stairway and do step aerobics too. Up up down down..... for 30 minutes. Put on a good beat and step to it. At one time I recorded click tracks at different beats per minute and had them on my Ipod. When I walked, I would stay with the click. Of course, you may not have a drum machine in a second floor digital recording studio, but just sayin'....

I had a day like that today Deb. Raining too hard to go walk, so I did some stationery bike in place of walking. But you are walking laps in your house, so you are doing something aerobic. Good that you have that alternate plan.

Go on YouTube, there are many videos to do. I love gymra exercise videos. They are by GYMRA. I also exercise off of sparkpeople.com, they have loads of videos, you do them right off of your computer screen. If you type in the kind of exercise you want to do , you will find it on YOUTUBE. I save them on my favorites, so I just click on one and do them.

Also another one that I do is the Royal Canadian air force exercise plan. , you type it in search and it comes up, there is a video you can follow. At the end of the exercises you run in place for 3 minutes, you do not need any equipment to do it.

I did a Denise Austin low impact aerobic video off of youtube the other day that I just love. Gilad is also good. Jane Fonda has some new workouts on You Tube.

Triple digits here .. I have no admiration for those jogging by ... they're either insane or trying to outrun the police.

Leslie Sansone has a great selection of walking CD's: 1, 2, 3, 5 mile work outs. She is great, has great energy and the steps are easy. Basically back and forth and side to side--nothing too extreme. Before you know it you've walked a mile in your living room!

Thank you, everyone! Eddie, thank you for the bottom of a stairway step aerobics tip. I definitely will do that. Also I will be searching youtube videos! Looked up Leslie Sansone videos again, and will check the others you mentioned. Ran out of time today, should have gone to sleep two hours ago. See you tomorrow!

Dancing. There's always my 80's music and gettin' down. The way I dance, I can burn a LOT of calories! I like Spanish guitar (Gypsy Kings, Nova Menco) to do housework. It keeps me at a high rate of activity, and I dance while I sweep, dust, and vacuum. I also have an exercise ball, step, stretch bands, and wrist weights at home. My only problem with this system is that I have to have privacy, or I feel self conscious.
