Chris1979's Journal, 31 January 2011

Well, talk about a blow to the ego for me this weekend. I went dress shopping w/ my mother. We found something I like, which is terrific... however to allow for my belly to grow over the next 5 weeks I had to go up 2 more sizes (and I was already at 2 sizes higher than I normally wear!). FOUR WHOLE SIZES UP. Ugh.

We told my parents. My dad was very quiet. My mother seems happy and excited. She did say "now you are really going to need to hire a maid". Between school, work, and then baby~ it will be so hard to keep up the house. And I don't want all Salem and I doing together on the weekend to be cleaning. So, I'm going to have to coupon harder to make up the difference lol! They gave me a check for 30% of the amount they had originally promised me as help for the wedding. Oh well. Better than nothing!!!

I'm still not really showing. I am wearing maternity pants though b/c they are just so darn comfy! And I was starting to get that red mark around my middle from the strain of my pants. Weird, being as how my weight is about a pound down. But, I guess it's the redistribution of my weight that is causing that issue.

My next doctor's appointment isn't until February 18th since I'm considered low risk. This weekend I'm flying to South Dakota, which is somewhat of a mid-way point for my maid of honor and I to meet up (her from Cali, me from PA) to do some last wedding things (get my jewelry, shoes, flower girl dress for my niece, get ideas for hairstyles and makeup). Her family lives there and is like a 2nd family to me.

Well I am glad that things went well with your parents. It will still get better. You will see. Glad you found a dress and yes I am sure it is from the redistribution of weight. No time to worry about that. Enjoy this time. Sorry you didn't get what you were expecting from your parents. Oh and of course when do we get to see the dress??

No matter what, your belly is going to get bigger, but its great that your losing weight because it will be just that much easier to get back down after the baby. And don't worry about the dress size - YOUR PREGNANT! Have a great Monday momma-to-be!!!

Chris thanks for your comment about the trip. I wanted to tell you that I am flying from Buffalo to Philly and meeting him in Philly where I believe we are changing planes. I will be thinking about you when I am there. Not quite sure how much of a lay over we have.

I am glad things went well with your parents. That's hard about the money.. maybe they will give you more as the wedding gets closer or maybe when the baby arrives. On the wedding dress size...well it's only a number and no one will see it but you. I am essentially back to phase one and I'm tracking my points. Ijust need to make my scale move the right direction !!

Yes you have to trust the wedding dress people because they have to fit pregnant brides all the time!

Congrats! Nice. Now we are both pregnant and we can lose it together. :) That's exciting! How far along are you? I missed when you posted anything about this. The first time I got pregnant my belly really didn't' grow that much until I was about five months--but I did get bloating all over the place, even though my weight wasn't going up dramatically. :( The first trimester is usually the worst. Just keep up usual good eating as much as you can to help fight the bloat. Two things that really help: Udo's Digestive Enzymes and this homeopathic stuff I cant' remember the name of. I will find. The Udo's stuff is magical when you start getting the inevitable constipation/bloating of the first trimester. Even I, SAHM, am finding room in our budget for a cleaning person to come a couple times a month. You definitely deserve it. Like you said, time is money and you dont' want to spend your free time with your husband/baby dealing with or fighting over or feeling guilty about housework! There wil be plenty of other things to feel guilty about.

Ok, I went back and read your old journals. We are not that far apart! Craziness. I'm so happy to have a pregnant person here on FS. I have tried friending a few women on the different pregnancy boards here but no one seems to stay on for very long. Losing .8 lbs is totally totally normal. I just met this woman who was skinny and lost 20 lbs in the first trimester--and she is completely fine. Everyone is different and every pregnancy is different. You're doing great! With my first I gained 7 lbs in the first trimester. This is a great chart to help you stay on track-I am a little obsessive with it but it has helped. http:// www. indiacurry. com/ women/ pregcalc.htm

I'm so thrilled to see you and beets connecting with the pregnancy status!!! I am also glad things went fairly well with your folks. Don't worry too much about dad's quietness ... he'll be thrilled when the baby arrives. You are too funny too ... worrying about the wedding dress size!! Yes ... your body redistributes ... won't feel at all like your own!!
