Down another pound. I haven’t counted calories yet, but I have been calorie conscience. Does that make sense to you? When given a choice, I will choose a food that is lower in calories and higher in protein. Right now, I have just concentrated on eating more fruits and vegetables, and reducing the amount of red meat I eat. It has been working and I think it will continue to work until I get down to that infamous last twenty pounds or so. Then I might have to actually have to do something radical like follow some structured eating plan. Toodles!

I agree with you that it's not necessary to count every single calorie. You probably won't get the count right anyway. I also don't think setting a hard daily limit is a good idea. If you're seeing good results with your approach, then stick with it. It's a little like tossing horseshoes. You don't need a ringer, getting close counts too!

I need to practice less red meat too but I find I crave that iron and when I see a nice steak on the grill I must eat it! I don't count every calorie either but I do my best to log for macro reasons

That's great! It all comes down to making healthier choices. I think some of us need more guardrails than others.
