kingkeld's Journal, 21 June 2013

Good morning!

I'm at work, so this journal SHOULD be cut a wee bit short. I'm not sure it will, though. You guys know me. I always have a lot to say. :)

I'm down in weight today, reaching 77.4 kilos. No new low, but there is a fair chance that I'll get to that tomorrow. The lowest this time around has been 76.9, and it's been a couple of days since I have had a "real" drop in weight, so I wouldn't be surprised. Then again, of course, I might not reach that point. Who knows.

I did reasonably good yesterday. I spent too many of my calories on Wife's Dreaded Thursday Cakes ("Dreaded" because it's so damn good!), but stayed well within my 2100 calorie RDI. It wasn't hard at all. The only hard part about it was to NOT go for a 3rd piece of cake. :)

...

I managed to survive the day reasonably well. I was at the office from 7 to 4:30 yesterday, and at the gym working from 5 to 9. A LONG day. I totally konked out when I came home, and I slept GREAT! Fitbit says I slept almost 6 hours, and awakened 3 times. That's better than usual for a night like yesterday. I feel rested and good to go today.

I can't upload a picture of my Fitbit stats as I normally do, as I am at work and don't have the tools. However, my stats from yesterday were:

Calorie burn: 3330 of 2800 goal.
Steps: 20520 of 10000 goal.
KM traveled: 15.95 of 8.00 goal.

Not bad at all.

...

I read a REALLY interesting E-book yesterday, "the 2 meal solution" my Mike O'Connell. It's a great read. Obviously, this is copyrighted material, so I can't just share it, but I will be more than happy to share his free preview of it for you guys to read. He makes a LOT of sense, and really breaks down the same thing as my "8 hour window" system. Well, it's not really my system, but the system I use, and what I call it.

It's very interesting what this does to me. It's very very accomplishable, and makes the day surprisingly easy.

Find the preview here.

I find it really interesting to read Mike's thoughts on the whole thing - especially because he makes PERFECT sense. He's very close to what I myself have experienced, and he's great at lining it all up and making a "system" for us to use. Very nice.

I'm happy to see that I am basically ready to do his "advanced" version of this, with every day being a "fast" day, in the sense that I think I can more or less skip breakfast on a daily basis if I like.

There is no real damage from actually having a breakfast if I am too hungry to skip it, but it is all up to me. I think I'm basically gonna conclude from the book that I am doing just fine with what I'm doing, and keep going.

My only thing that I really can see that I need to do differently is that I probably need to UP my calories just a little bit, to ensure that I eat enough. This is something I'm already working on. I am so used to looking for a calorie deficit that this is a challenge.

I LIKE having a calorie deficit. It makes me feel safe. It also makes me lose weight, which I really am not looking for. Sure, I still have a mission of dropping a few hundred grams, but they come and go and they're no worry at all.

I will be most happy and comfortable weighing less than 77 tomorrow, simply because it tells me that I'm doing right. It'll tell me that things are as they should be and that I have nothing to worry about. However, if I don't get to that point, then I am STILL accomplished this week. I just need to keep an eye on my weight and ensure that it doesn't climb again next week. I don't think it will.

I think if anything I am in a calorie deficit. All system (all three!) that I use to measure and calculate tells me that I am right where I'm supposed to be, but could eat more. However, it just isn't comfortable for me to eat more, unless I eat junk, so why should I? Right? The human body is a wonderful machine, and I am sure things will simply slowly adjust. I will either lose a little more weight to accomodate a calorie burn that better fits my calorie intake, or I will naturally get more hungry for certain foods to up my calorie intake to what my body requires. It shouldn't be too hard. This will happen over the course of a LONG time, of course. Just keep swimming, just keep doing good in general.

By buddy Sarahmum gave me a link to another e-book on the 5:2, fast diet, whatever-we-call-it. I will try to read it throughout the weekend - it's very interesting for me. I can totally see me eating this way the rest of my life, to ensure healthy living and maintaining my weight.

...

So, today is Friday. I got up with Wife, went to walk as she left, and I was at work at 6:45AM. I get to save up some comp time, already did my walk and after work I will meet with Wife and Daughter and we'll go do a workout session. Then I will be working the Gym at 3PM to 6PM. A good friend will come work out the last hour at the gym, and then come home for dinner with us. It's a good, fun day.

Saturday will be my band rehearsal day this week. We're starting early, at 9 AM, so I have to get ready with everything tonight. I can't wait to play my new bass and hear how it thunders at full blast! It'll be soooo much fun!

...

Today, I'm thankful for:
- A small drop in weight. I'm inching my way back to final goal.
- Wife!
- Early at work!
- Even better grip on intermittent fasting!

Happy Friday - have a GREAT weekend! Life is good!

Glad you are enjoying the links. I too enjoy the 2 meal a day system and am doing the 'advanced' ie no breakfast. However, I am just not hungry at all now, until almost supper time so I am down to about one meal a day and a snack in the evening. I know, I know, too low in calories but I don't to eat when I'm not hungry. Sigh. Oh well, I sent you a PM, thanks for the info and I'll get back to you after I've checked your blog. Enjoy your day, it sounds like it is going to be a lot of fun.

I do think it's important to not go WAY too low. As you mentioned in the PM, it's not all THAT bad what you're doing. What you told me makes sense, so GO FOR IT! :) I can't wait to hear about your results.

Thanks Keld, will keep you post. I posted my food for today and still have room for a snack tonight if needed, and my food for tomorrow's indulgence day. I even put fries in there - hey, its indulgence day :) I really appreciate your help and support.

Enjoy those fries. Indulgence Day is exactly that - a day to indulge. Enjoy it. Have the things that you can't have the other day. Live live. Just don't go (too much) over your RDI for that day. :D
