What kind of water pill? I want to try it!

It is a prescription from my doctor. I am supposed to take it every day which I do not. I collect water in my lungs and my legs because of my heart. After a while when I see my weight going up I give in and take a pill. I can lose anywhere from 3 to 5 lb in a day of water. That doesn't count for most people. It's not fat weight which I wish it was, it's just water weight retention. If you do hold a lot of water you should talk to your doctor. They will give you a pill to take. My blood pressure pill also has a little bit of a diuretic. I just wish I didn't have heart issues so I wouldn't hold all this weight.

As was said, this is prescription medication which should NEVER be taken without supervision.... it is not intended for weight loss! Water in our bodies isn’t just water.... it carries with it electrolytes like sodium and calcium. It’s all in a delicate balance and you don’t want to mess it up! The medication should be taken as prescribed rather than “giving in” . Talk to your health care provider!

Hey, linny(my nickname as well)! THIS Linda winters in Venice just south of you! Get up to St. Armands at least once a season!

Hey Linda GT, nice to hear from you! I've lived in this area 4 the past 46 years. Most of the time it was in Sarasota near University Parkway. Now I'm way up and Bradenton out of 55 and over golfing community which I don't golf. LOL. It's just a beautiful community in very nice people. I have so many health issues I do not get out and about. I'm on oxygen 24/7. Anyway I'll follow you and support you and encourage you any way I can to reach your goals. Best of luck to you!

I wrote myself reminders with google calendar and they pop up to make sure I do not forget my meds, vitamins, etc.

JC my friend, you are the sweetest thing ever. I know you're a nurse and you're doing more schooling, but you are the best already, and I know people love having you as their nurse. I would listen to you any day. 😍💙 My doctor told me that I needed to lose weight and that holding water was part of my weight problem. It's hard to take water pills when I'm out for the day going to other doctor visits, because I have to go to the bathroom so often. Anyway, you are the best FS friend and most sweetheart ever! Thank you! 🌴😁

Hey Barb, thank you for the advice on the calendar reminder. That makes a lot of sense. I do have a pill holder and I am consistent with the time I take my pills. My body tells me when I need them, so I'm pretty consistent with taking everything everyday at the right time. The water pill is a new thing to take everyday, so I don't remember that one because it's not in my pill case. I was doing it by the direction of the doctor before last week on an as-needed basis. He just switched it over because I asked him about all the water weight I had. When I eat grain flour Foods, dairy, or sugar it causes inflammation in me which makes me hold water.

ecanal, maka, please read the explanation post above. this is a whole new thing for me to take the water pill everyday. the doctor just switched me last week from as needed to daily. when I have to spend the day out and go to the doctor which I have several to go to weekly then I cannot take those pills because I'm in the car or in the office and I can't be running to the bathroom every 20 minutes or half hour. I take them when I can.

Glad things are going well. I was more concerned about OTHERS using diuretics for weight loss. It was the rage at one point, and people got into some trouble with sodium, etc.

Hey skinny...glad you are listening to your doc. Lots of dialysis patients gain tremendous amounts of fluid, which can affect breathing/etc. Some are prescribed water pills (like you), but I know of one person that gets them in Mexico without a prescription and just takes it when he feels like it (not prescribed). I get scared for him! Good for you for listening to your doc!!! There are people out there who don't and it is scary! :)
