Jopenn's Journal, 21 October 2019

Well everyone, my Right Hip Replacement was on 10/7 and just got home from Rehab....after 2 weeks, shows gained a little as in rehab center couldn't control what I ate much AND also Doctor said joint replacement and metal weighs about 2 lbs!! So, all in all, perhaps I didn't do too bad. Now I can exercise the specified moves and also walk without much pain. Using a walker now and hope to graduate to a cane and then NO walking aid!!!! Getting on the right track again and drinking plenty of water. Unfortunately, the pain pills I'm on make you constipated...adding to that weight gain. LOL Wish me continued success...thanks!

Good luck with your rehab. I had a hip replacement 3months ago. I have heal ed well. But am still walking with a cane. I have weak muscles and when I walk without the cane, my hip seems to float to the right still causing me a ljmp. Rehab was extended by 4 weeks and I am working on strengthening those muscles. In looking back, the surgery was the easiest part , the rehab the hardest part. Getting off those pain pills should be a priority. Wishing you well.

Mine was 4 weeks ago and I’m up about 6 lbs...I wasn’t too concerned, but now it’s time for me to start tracking again

If possible, and if it is tall enough, try to take advantage of the balanced support of the walker and work on correcting your posture and relearning to stand up straight. Pain teaches us improper positions and movements that create additional problems, and these habits require time and effort to break. Glad your surgery was a success!

Surgery and therapy take a lot out of you. That gain seems tiny. All the best in your recovery! 💕

Don’t be hard on your self. Just keep making better choices with food, and focus on healing. You’re doing great!
