It's hard. I'm the only healthy eater in my home also. We can do it!

That is hard! Does their health show their unhealthy choices?

Yes it is. But if they want lunch meat, make some other choices for yourself. Maybe tuna salad, chicken salad, egg salad for your sandwich. And maybe they will make some healthier choices.

I feel you on this. Im ok with most meals, but when they want things like mac n cheese or certain "salads" then I have a hard time. Mostly though, its when they have things like chips and cookies in the house. Weve started moving them so that they are not plastered in my face because Im the type of person who is ok if I dont see it. So thats something small but has made a world of difference. Also having cut up celery and carrots in the fridge and making healthier snacks available has helped my kid make better choices too. Good luck to you- its hard but worth it. Plus, you can always vent here!

Is there any reason everyone in the house can't be eating healthy? I quit buying the junk food and my kids adjusted quite quickly...after some major complaining of course lol. When I do have the junk food in the house, I end up eating it and gain weight. I am pre-diabetic so I basically told my family that my life depends on this, and that turned them around. This is a tough situation that many of us have to face.

I have bought the low carb corn chips offline and popcorn and porkrinds. I've made low carb keto cookies and for other family made fruit salads...I personally like no surgar added jello with real whipped cream!! I have baked a turkey breast and packaged up slices of sandwich size to freeze. Precooked hamburgers to freeze, keto meatloaf, etc...so when family is hungry, they grab for a sandwich which is easy to warm in the microwave. Works for me.

@Shiny50 - that's what happened in our household. My husband and I are 100% with our plan but...we have a 24 yo that had to move back home temporarily. She joined us with our WOE too, but soon began to sneak fast food, donuts, sodas, snack cakes. Even as we watch episodes of 600lb Life, she agrees that junk food shouldn't be in the house and that the entire family should be supportive, all the while she's eating a pint of ice cream. I don't buy any of that, she does ...smh... So... I learned to ignore it. I'm losing and (unfortunately) she's gaining. I try.. I try... but I can't force anyone to change. I focus on myself.

It really is, my husband CONSTANTLY would tell me I should cheat because he wants me to enjoy a dinner with him, now he finally agreed to do the diet with me for his health but this week he’s complained so much about starting next week so he could eat a bunch of things we both love and he’s like “come on babe you know you want to” lol he finally told me “babe thank you for not letting me cheat and not giving into my whining this week” I knew it would be hard for him cutting out sugar in the beginning, it was for me too, now if I can convince the rest of my family so they stop asking me to get them sugary treats and fast food while I’m out 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣 please don’t ask someone on a diet to pick you up and have to endure the smell of foods we can’t have

@Kissangelgirl - I am sorry about your daughter. Hopefully by continuing to set a good example, she will eventually change her WOE to be more healthy. I know you have lost 100 pounds and have so much to be proud of, and you are focused enough to avoid the temptation. Keep it up and maybe your daughter will join you in her own time.

Look at yourself as the trendsetter, the mentor, the example, the lead. They may not be in a position to support...but as your success continues, who knows, they may play the role of follower.

Thats how my household is. They all want processed foods and try to get me to fail at my healthy eating. You have to buy your own and really commit to being healthy

YES IT IS!!! I have a 5 year old that will not eat ANY veggies. He is so picky but its b/c he is so texture sensitive. He won't even eat mashed potatoes... and my husband is almost just as bad. He acts like he cannot eat anything w/out some bread or rice or pasta w/ it. Drives me insane. But I am thankful for my buddies on here. At least we have somewhere to come for support b/c I know I have the hardest time sticking to anything.

Processed food for quick meals is a hard thing for everybody. I eat quite a bit of processed food it’s just a matter I choose it to be a healthier option. An example my kids love the blue hake fish patties with the breading on it from the Schwan’s company, I choose not to eat that instead since we will all be eating fish I will have some salmon or orange roughy. All of it is processed food BUT the decision of eating the healthier option is alway up to you. Stand firm for yourself and maybe the other people in the house will look at your processed food and give it a try because it looks delicious.

Tell me about it! My hubby is addicted to Hostess, Tastee cakes, and Entimens! I make 2 different meals alot!. Usually I adapt the meals but not always possible. If I make pasta for him I just make zoodles for myself but when he eats mac n cheese or hot dogs etc I usually make a salad with protien for me.
