Snowwhite100's Journal, 28 March 2019

Went for a one week check on my husband's wound from the removal of a basil cell cancer on the side of his nose. Unfortunately the flap taken from higher up and moved down to cover the wound has partly died. It did bleed quite a bit, the first day under the compression bandage. They wanted to know how much (how do you tell?) but it hadn't dripped, but when we took the big compression bandage off the following day, there was a big blood clump. They said when there is very much blood the flap pushes up and can't adhere. When home our daughter asked on the phone if he was bending over? Gee, we came home after surgery and laid down and took and nap. He got up while I was asleep and went outside picking weeds. Oh, oh. They said it would take a couple of months to fill in that area. They want us to go back in one week to make sure it is not drawing the bottom of the nostril up. He said that would be fine since that side was lower than the other side. LOL. Our daughter said that after it heals, they probably can inject a filler into that area. I bet he never read the “after surgery” instructions. If you ever have a sore that doesn't want to heal, go get a biopsy right away. They just grow and then more has to be taken off. And don't settle for regular skin cancer surgery. Only have the “Mohs” procedure, so they don't take any more than they have to!
