My friends here are the BEST!! Thank you all for words of advice, encouragement and support yesterday.
My 15 yo daughter has a pair of green velvet pants that are so cute—I tried them on today and they fit me! They don’t look as good on me as they do on her, but I was thrilled they fit!
I have been lifting weights at the gym 2-3 times a day for several months even though my food choices haven’t been good during that time. I think it has helped minimize the effects of my bad eating even though my scale weight has gone up. I’d like to continue building muscle and cut back the fat I have hanging around. Any advice for doing that??

Wow nice job building muscle and fitting those pants! My trainer told me this summer that love handles only go away in the kitchen and most other fat takes that, working out and a deficit. By in the kitchen she explained that I had to make better food choices. Not what I wanted to hear lol. Perhaps you could add in some cardio with the weights and get back on your diet. I thought you already were though. Just a suggestion based on what she told me.

A small deficit and a high protein and carb intake along with resistance training will have you gaining muscle and losing fat.

What David said above; a slight deficit can be consistent or it can be cut and bulk with increases to protein. You'll be amazed at the changes. Good luck!

David knows his stuff. I would take advice from someone who's been there, done that - and he has. Good luck!
