scale is down a bit this am...but i am still not at my mini goal. I ate more this weekend than i anticipated.....with being out at activities with kids....its harder to plan my meals as we are eating on the fly or worse yet...eating out! which is what got me fat to begin with. need to work on this , this week. The kids father is big into sigining them up for everything...and although i like them to have outside activity , i think its a bit excessive and needless and overall not all that beneficial. last year i stood my ground and limited what was signed up for....as i dont feel that any activity should interfere with our family time and meaningful routines such as having dinner together or having nightly time where we can just be together...it looks as if i will have to restate and reaffirm my position again!!

For years when i was married....i was like a single parent.....i have a son whos nearly 21....so i have been doing this a long time. Now for last 10 years i have been split from their father and for 5 of these years hes been trying to do better i guess and make up for what he lost back then....but for me....its very overboard! and self serving!

Not only is this affecting the quality of my family life with my kids....its now affecting how i and we are eating..so thats why i bring it to this forum...and ask...am i alone here?? does anyone else experience these feelings ?? i se people on fly eating takeout..rushing around...and i feel like i am the only one who doesnt follow the grain....

Right nw as it stands....we have monday wed thursday and sunday practices and this is when gameplay etc hasnt even started...it leaves me with tues fri and sat to just be. any thoughts ladies?? how do you all balance this?

I don't have kids yet, but I too struggle to find a balance between keeping busy and being TOO busy. I actually gave up full-time to switch to part-time so that eating and exercise (and other things) wuold no longer feel like things I have to cram in without enjoying them because I have to cram them in. I don't have as much money now but more time to relax and do whatever I want! :) It's hard to find the right balance sometimes (esp when you have to deal with others differing opinions, I am sure!), I hope you figure it out!

I have a two year old, and after gaining 45 pounds with the pregnancy, I vowed never to look like like a frumpy mom(like my mom!) If I know I am going to be eating out, I have to plan ahead. You can get a printout from your computer of healthy options at your favorite restaurants. I have a mental list for all our regular haunts, like, at Sonic, I have a grilled chicken wrap or sandwhich, no mayo, at Taoc Bell, bean burrito, no cheese, at Dairy Queen I get a baby cone or sundae and a chicken salad. You can always pack a lunch too when on the go! I often put low fat snacks for both me and my daughter into our tote, in case I am not home for my next meal. Sometimes it's an apple or a mini box of cereal, a granola bar, or chopped veggies. Who says healthy food can't be fast food? I have even brought a tupperware dish of raw brocolli to a Christmas party to munch! Don't make a big deal over eating something different, and no one else will, usually. Being a busy mom can be stressful, so be sure to take time for yourself and make yourself a priority. Take deeeep breaths.. You may need to find someone to share your responsibilities if you it is just too much. If you can't and you can't slow down, just try to relax when you can. The summers go by quickly and they are only kids once. i feel for you though, it sounds like you have a lot to handle!

It really is hard to balance everything. When my daughter was younger and in school activities and sports we ate out A LOT. At least we had dinner together even though it was in a restaurant. Lotus has a good idea about looking up the restaurants on your computer beforehand so you can make better choices. dottisweightlosszone.com lists a lot of restaurants and shows how many calories, etc are in there dishes. When you go to practices and games take a few baggies of healthy snacks and drinks to you to the field. Pack up the baggies ahead of time and keep them in the frig. That way you can grab it and go!
