It’s hard to diet in a family setting. Luckily, my husband doesn’t interfere in my eating decisions.

I was in the same situation you are now back in the 70's. Fat parents shoving food in my face, food the central theme in everything. I decided at age 21 to just stop it. Food stopped being a reason to live for me. It helped to change my whole attitude towards it. Food is a means to live not a reason to live. I refused to eat the stuff they wanted me to and made my own meals. I changed from meat and potatoes and sweet desserts every night to vegetables and yogurt with berries or other fruit. I exercised daily, starting slowly so as to not hurt myself. I went from 195 to 130 in 6 months. It was hard esp with all the crap my parents bought, to tempt me back into the fold so to speak. I resisted and have only been heavy once more in my life (age 60)... pregnancy will do that to you. But even then at age 31 I lost the weight fast by following what I had done in my 20's. Talk with your mother and tell her what you are trying to do maybe get her to go along and improve her health and diet as well.

Simple brisk walking is a great way to start "working out." A half hour a day accomplishes a lot and studies have shown it's as effective as running but a whole lot less stressful on joints. Keep your arms free.

Challenge your Mom...have her eat healthy & workout with you. When you have a Partner it gets easier to Push each other....try it!!!
Tell your Mom, to lead by example!!

Thanks guys!!! Well I should set my 30 minutes of walking to right after all the classes, regardless of when it is! That is such a great idea and I hope I can stick to that :) Thank you so much!! And with my mom, to be honest she actually needs to gain weight and work out but she always says she'd rather watch tv because her legs arent that healthyy :( my mom's health is a wayy bigger problem than mine but well :(

Welcome. First of all, tell mom that as much as you love her food, that from now on you will be responsible for your own food. I go to school just for the fun of it. I make a point of parking as far away from my classes as I can and walk.— at least 1/2-3/4 mile. Adds up.
