kathleeng48's Journal, 20 April 2018

On April 20 of this year, 2018, my endocrinologist weighed me and I was in shock. I never really go off a diet. I don't binge. I tried to be reasonable in my choices, but the weight gain was horrific. I had been 214 when my hip was replaced two years ago this coming September. He did say I could figure on 5 to 8 lbs for the artificial hip. But my starting weight was 241 in his office clothed. He has never bothered me about my weight since my blood pressure is normal or low normal, cholesterol and triglycerides absolutely normal, vitamin levels good, etc. I have no co morbidities except my excess weight. He also knows what I eat. He said to keep up what I was doing and it will eventually come off. I know that would not happen. So I decided the only way to do this was not with food I had to buy, not with giving up all carbs since I refuse to do that in the summer when I must have fruit, but on the most reasonable of plans, the New Weight Watchers.
I am down 15 lbs which won't show here since I have no way to put the starting weight for that date. It would be nice if I could somehow. I do want to write about WW since I find it almost impossible to get to the 23 points I am allowed. I am just so trained to avoid those foods that are high in points. I am not the type to look at what is left at the end of the day and say- "Oh, I can have ten points. Let me have a sandwich." Why would I eat when I am not hungry. So I just skip it.
It will be a long journey. The lowest I have been since my first major gain after going through menopause and being labeled hypothyroid, was 189. That was 22 or so years ago. The most recent was the 202 listed in 2016, although I don't remember weighting that little. So here we go again. Will I ever get to goal. Since I decided there is no such thing as a diet anymore, just a new way of eating, it might just work.PS I am NOT on Nutrisystem anymore. I hated the food and cost. I am doing WEIGHT WATCHERS online.
241.0 lb Lost so far: 0 lb.    Still to go: 86.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
gaining 0.4 lb a week
