CSmittyRun's Journal, 20 March 2008

Well this stupid alert thing keeps bothering me to weigh in but nothing has changed. I had a huge weight drop over a week ago and have plateaued since. Boo. I've been doing really well this week and have a very busy weekend ahead so hopefully that will add a lot of extra exercise. I've been more hungry the past few days and I think that's prob from exercising more, so I up'ed my calories to compensate. I've been doing pretty solid with the weights though and am seeing the muscles now. I actually have a bicep, cool. I just want to see the scale move so bad, just a little. I've lost 20 pounds so far, and you really wouldn't know I needed to lose that since I', 5'7" but I have and I'm still going. My goal has been to get to 140 but now I am wondering if I can go lower, I have a pretty small frame. I have always heard to set realistic goals for yourself or you will just burnout and quit, but recently I read that women who set unrealistic goals tend to lose more weight. So Maybe once I get past 150 I'll move my ticker down a little lower to motivate myself. I have been trying lots of new things and none of them are seeming to get me past this plateau. Grr.
153.0 lb Lost so far: 20.0 lb.    Still to go: 3.0 lb.    Diet followed 100%.

Just keep doing what you are doing. I had a friend who didn't see the scale move for 6 months, but went down like 4 or 5 sizes. It's not just about the number on the scale, but what you look and feel like too. You are doing great!

interesting about women with unrealistic goals losing more weight. what if the women who set unrealistic goals are losing more weight because they are not doing it in a healthy way? I too have my goal in mind as 140, but will probably lower it once I get there (less than that wouldn't be unrealistic for me, as I too have a small frame and have been skinnier, I just want to wait and see what I feel like then since I'll have more muscles. you will have more muscles, too!). anyway, you are doing a great job! it is probably all those muscles that are weighing down the scale. I hope the scale rewards you soon!

Thanks Cindylynnwho! The article I read made it seem like the women with unrealistic goals had more drive because they had farther to go, but good point about them possibly being unhealthy. Thanks so much for the support, you're always so motivating! :D
