I have been on a sugar binge for over a week now. I just crave sugar, like a smoker craves cigarettes. I know I need to stop, just as a smoker knows, but I haven't yet. At this rate I will put back on all the weight I lost (38 lbs) and more. How can I stop the insanity of it all?
220.0 lb Lost so far: 2.0 lb.    Still to go: 80.0 lb.    Diet followed poorly.

You are feeling cravings. Absolutely. And it does feel out of control when that happens. But it also feels overwhelming to tackle this beast. I speak from experience. I would suggest that you take a series of smaller steps. You might continue to gain weight for a bit, but ultimately you will reach a place where the beast is no longer in control, and you will be able to diet from a place of strength. Start with one kind of sugar. Maybe the artificial sweeteners would be a good place to start if you are using them. They can mess with your sense of hunger/satiety. Do that for at least 2 or 3 weeks. Maybe 6 to 8. Feel comfortable with that change. Then get rid of all the high fructose corn syrup in your life. This requires lots of label reading. You may think you are not consuming much sugar at times, until you start reading your labels. Then get rid of the white stuff. By the time you reach this point, you will probably be ready for it. I thought I would never get there. But I have. It helps to really educate yourself about all the damage that you are doing to body with the sugar, because then you can start to associate the sugar with poison. It may seem like an overstatement, but for some of us, it is. You can do this. Baby steps.
