AHHHH. I've cut down my eating by like 40%. And what I have been eating has been a whole lot healthy. So if my portions have dramatically gone down, my choices have greatly improved, I've been drinking a lot of water, PLUS i've been doing about 45 minutes of treadmill work about 4-5 times a week, why haven't I lost any weight?!?!?! This is depressing. Maybe I understand the weight not coming off because that takes time but how on Earth have I gained weight? I don't understand it and I am being 100% reasonable and logical by analyzing the past 3 weeks.

My boyfriend tells me I have to start doing more than just treadmill work because my body may have gotten adjusted to that workout. Is this true? Does it get adjusted in 3 weeks? What do I do now?
180.0 lb Lost so far: 0 lb.    Still to go: 10.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
gaining 1.5 lb a week

Hey Joelly. first off, don't get frustrated. These things take time and often don't go as we plan. The first thing i would look at is the food you are eating. Are you reducing your food intake by 40% in terms of calories or volume? some very healthy food can be very high in calories so you may be eating more than you think. Conversely, you can eat a large volume of food if it has a low calorie density. you would have to really work to eat 500 calories in baby greens, but it doesn't take much salad dressing to reach that mark. You boyfriend may also be right. I wouldn't say that you body is "used to" the workout and it is therefore no longer helpful but rather, you might want to change the type of work you are doing. Walking for 45 minutes will burn calories because your body is working, but if you add some resistance training you will add muscle which will burn more calories when you workout and when you are doing nothing. And don't worry about "bulking up" you would have to really work to do that. Hope that help and keep working.

I don't think you need to adjust yet but I have two points. 1) Sometimes it takes your body a little while to "adjust", you may see some great results soon 2) Are you not eating enough? Your body may be holding on to what you're eating if it thinks you're "starving" Don't get discouraged, keep up the great job you're doing, you'll see results soon. Take measurements to gauge your progress too!

IF you're not eating enough, your body might me starving itself and therefore storing itself. I gain weight during Ramadan (a mont of fasting) even though I barely eat. You NEED to eat, small and frequent. And cardio is a waste of time. You only burn calories on the spot. Circuit train (your heart pounds just as fast) AND you built muscle which stimulates your metabolism. What's the number? Fat burns 3 calories while muscle burns 50. And you won't get bulky, I promise. I started at 189...and doing this worked for me :) Good luck
