mk88's Journal, 10 May 2010

Kinda bummed that the scale this morning showed I gained. I was surprised yesterday though with such a significant loss. I was thinking it was not to healthy to loose that fast. I am using this site for everything, reporting honestly and in full, so I am hoping to continue to lose at least 3 lbs a week. If that goal is met, then I believe the weight will stay off for good.

I am also doing weight training when I workout so, that may add some lean poundage...though this burns more calories and makes us look toned so...who cares about the numbers on the scale when you look great, right?

One or the other...preferably both!

I can do this!

When you lift weights or do new exercise, the muscles get little tears and hold water to help them heal. This can make the scale temporarily go up. I can go on a long bike ride and be up 3 or 4 pounds the next day (sore muscles). But you are right about the number on the scale. We all put so much importance on it, that it can effect our moods and it doesn't always show the whole picture. You are doing great.

Don't look at it as a gain, after all, you are 1.4 pounds down from what you were only three days ago. It is just a little fluctuation, it happens to all of us! Keep up the good work, I bet you will have lost even more by week's end!

If you can do it hide your scale!!! Only try to weigh yourself once a month...especially since you are doing weight training. I"m having a hard time doing it myself, but it bums me out to see it go up 2lbs when I've been working my tush off. As Suzi mentioned it is probably only water weight...it will go away. Plus numbers aren't what counts it is how well your skinny clothes fit :)...good luck!!
