Loosing weight is scary for a women with PTSD. I was attacked because they thought I was pretty. And I was sold because they thought I was sexy and my body was worth money. And when I got fat the attention stopped and consequently the pain stopped. Now I’m loosing weight and I’m getting attention again from random creepy old men. Am I safe? Yes. Am I away from my abusers? Yes. Is every creepy old man going to hurt me? No. Then why even after all these years do I question loosing weigh. Can I try to be healthy and feel good about myself without the attention? Flirting from old men makes me cringe with memories. Feeling very stalled in my progress today. To keep loosing weight or sabotage my efforts......what a terrifying choice.

That's a tough story, glad you made it through. Hopefully time and therapy will help. Losing weight will help your quality of life in many ways, the old man flirting is something you will eventually learn to see as harmless.

You need to get into a therapist who specializes in EMDR therapy. It is the only therapy that has been shown to be effective for PTSD and flashbacks. 🙆🏻‍♀️I know where you ate coming from on those very feelings Hon and I’ve been working through a great deal of it myself my entire life. EMDR is the first therapy that has held out hope of being able to retrain the brain and those fight or flight instincts that were triggered during the trauma for very good reasons! 🤷🏻‍♀️If you can possibly get help, do so, don’t try to tough it out alone. I did that for WAY too many years and PTSD can lead to many buried health problems that will occur because of yhe adrenaline spikes and fear responses in your body happening in such excess. 🙆🏻‍♀️Know you have my love and support, Sunshine! Be brave!

You are welcome Hon. Fat is an easy way to camouflage being attractive so you garner less attention. 🤷🏻‍♀️It’s hard when that safety shield goes away. 💁🏻‍♀️ I’m lucky in that I still use a walker so I’m not seen as “available” so much! LOL Still get hit on occasionally, but not quite as much to squick me out. 🙋🏻

I wish you all the best with this. I agree you need a specialist to help you work through this so you can enjoy life again. I'm so sorry you went through all that. Sending love and prayers to you. ((hugs))

All I can say is that Jesus loves you and I’m sorry you had to walk through that kind of darkness. But again Jesus loves you!!

You are so strong girl! 🌞You got this! Any place that is near where veterans are treated should be seeing an increase in therapists getting training in EMDR because it IS so effective. It stands for Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing Therapy you are taken back through it, and weirdly enough it is based on your eye movements and how you store memories in your brain. But the idea is to reprocess and re-store the memories as less trauma charged ‘bombs.’ (Bomb being my word for those shit storms that explode when you least expect it.) 🙆🏻‍♀️Love you sunshine!
