If you keep your diet as clean and natural as can be, you will be okay. That means lean protein, dairy, fruits and veggies. Processed foods contain a lot of sodium so keep them to a minimum. Get in some exercise every day if possible. It's all about burning off more than you take in. Good luck!

I count calories and try to stay under 1500 a day. If you use the food calendar EVERY day, and plan your meals out you can lose. It is so important to plan ahead. There are lots of lower calorie/fat foods out there now. Low calorie muffins (Vita Tops) and low calorie breads (Arnold sandwich thins are great) yogurts and by just counting the calories you will know when your limit is met. You MUST eat to keep metabolism up. You don't need to live on salads. You need to stay motivated and concentrate on following your eating habits just like you would watch the price of gas for a bargain. Eating is something we must do daily but by "being aware" of what we eat and allowing ourselves little snacks we can get to our goal. Try keeping your breakfast at about 300 calories, lunch and dinner at about 450 calories and 3 snacks (or combine them for the evening if you like desserts) at about 100 calories each. Sometimes I combine if I really want something a bit higher in the evening. But... you need to know ahead. I truly feel planning is the key. I get tired and sometimes don't plan the next day, but "I catch up" and get it together quickly so I won't stray. I wish you lots of luck, as I know it isn't easy. Be determined! Get strong. You CAN do this but you have to apply yourself. Eat to live, be selective, enjoy each bite when you prepare a wholesome and health meal. Don't rush your meals. Eat slow and enjoy the flavors. It all works, but you have to start. Sorry this is so long, but I know how you feel and this site has wonderful people who will encourage you. Keep good records. This helps. Have the proper foods in the frig so you can make good meals. Tell your friends so they can help you along the way. Look up foods or meals BEFORE you eat them (Quiche). I had Lamb, asparagus and roasted potatoes for Easter and only used about 550 calories. It can be done. Good luck Charlie and let me know if this has helped. I'm there if you want to talk or have any questions. I'm still trying to lose also, and I lose slowly which is hard for me but I refuse to be swayed and continue to lose, albeit slowly. Be well and all my best.
