BeckyB3's Journal, 20 February 2018

Thank you everyone who sent their support! I got excited by the downward trend and weighed myself today - another pound gone! This after months of steady up. This could be random fluctuation but it's a morale booster. I did force myself to eat asparagus/tofu/brown rice stir fry for dinner last night, no snacks! (I feel like I am in the 70s again). That's 1970s. Counting calories is definitely eye opening but I'm wondering if the meditation I started practicing a couple weeks ago is also helping. Definitely I can associate the 10+ weight gain in the last year on some stressful events that I couldn't let go of. They were literally making me feel crazy. And kept reading about how stress adds to belly fat, which is where it was all going. I signed up for an all day stress reduction workshop a couple weekends ago, and started practicing some of the meditation since then (5 minutes in the morning). I have noticed a mental difference - a lighter feeling, more positive, letting go of some of those thoughts that were repeating in my mind like a hammer. So the meditation might also be responsible. I feel less stressed so maybe that is really lowering my cortisol = less belly fat? That and tofu...... Has anyone else tried meditation?

Thanks for the yogurt tip. Just read your journal post and it could be me writhing that. My world changed when we moved to the mid-west.

Ha! I love your name - that's what I always say, but you figured out a way to use it. Good luck with your diet and stress. I just started meditating and it seems to help. I don't even really know what I'm doing - I sit in a meditative pose and try not to think of anything and concentrate on the inside of my head. At the end I try to set a good intention for the day. That's all. Seems to have helped with the stress.
