This morning, I woke too early, but decided to start the day anyway. Bg was 122mg, but ketones were 2.5mm. Dr. Fung says that this means that my liver is shedding stored glucose. Instead of going to a Diet Doctor menu, I pulled out some of my favorite keto recipes. Three days per week, I am away from home for my main meal, so I chose four of my favorites. Then, I made sure that I had all of their ingredients. Yesterday, I made that wonderful curry, Garam Masala.
Unlike many, I am finding it easy to stay on keto when I eat out. Sometimes, it helps to dissect the menu online before going. The better restaurants use the ingredients keto people want. Even fast food works well, with a few exceptions. Avoid Taco Bell. All of the burger places I've visited will hold the bun without argument. When I am in the proper ketosis range, I need very little food. Just a snack and a cup of coffee will keep me until I get home.
I love Asian food, especially Thai or Japanese, but do they use sugar? Probably. Also, what does one do with all that rice? I have to make these things at home, or ask for a special dish. Do you have a tip for eating out?
